Are you running 19 or 20" wheels?

I'd be interested in your feedback if 19's  I found it rather soft and bouncy on my winter 19's.

For pictures you need to host on the wen then link in.  I just set up a free account on flickr

19inch wheels. I think winter tyres are not going to really give you a true appraisal due to the make up of the tyre. This is what I think-

So been out today for about 160 miles and covered all road types other than motorway. Everything I say is of course just my opinion as this sort of topic is very subjective.
Simplest way I suppose is to answer questions I’ve asked.
1 Does the car look visually more pleasing? Yes
2 Does the car feel more stiffly sprung? Yes
3 Has it spoilt the car when just driving around very sedately? No
4 Has it effected the entry in and out of the car being its 20 mm lower? No not for me
5 Has it improved the cars handling when things get a little more spirited? Oh yes considerably
6 Does it get uncomfortable and a bit of a bone shaker when driving more spirited? No
7 Could I live with it if it was my daily? Yes I could
8 What will the Mrs think? Don’t know but I’ll ask her following R10’s rally in two weeks where we will be covering probably in excess of 600 miles as we are staying in Northampton for a break after the rally.

So basically I’m very pleased with it. The car just feels more planted than when it was standard especially when driving spiritedly. I suppose if I was buying a brand new car then PASM is probably the way forward being the best of both worlds I suppose. Although I’ve never driven a car with PASM so I’m only going on what I’ve read and been told by others. Hope this helps

  2. Picked the car up and first impression is visually it’s a massive improvement. Obviously I’ve only driven from my local OPC but I’m not overly aware during inner city driving that’s it’s notably stiffer. Except when I went over some rumble strips entering a 30mph zone. It really rumbles 😂😎👍
Hopefully I’ll get out to play on some nice A roads tomorrow to get a better feel for the improvements on handling 👍

If someone with more know how than me could send an email to me via DM I’ll forward some before and after photos you can post up. I’m useless when it comes to IT and can’t post pics 😳😂👍

  3. OK so the day has come. Car dropped off hopefully I won’t regret the decision to go with the X73 Sports Suspension Package 👍 BMW MSport 340i for a day as a loan car. Lovely car but just doesn’t float my boat as a weekend make you feel good car. If you know what I mean 😂😎👍

So tempted to get PSE but worried about the stories of drone with PDK. Have you experienced any drone on yours at low revs?

I had PSE Retro fitted last Nov and it’s money well spent getting your smiles per miles. Over the last week starting from my home town of Barry S Wales I’ve done the London the Brighton run last Sunday and then continued down to Cornwall. So a total of six days with the Mrs covering some 930 miles. A few hundred of which were on motorways at a cruising 75mph and honestly no drone at all. I play with the PSE quite a lot turning it on/off as the feedback most give to avoid the dreaded seizing is USE IT and of course the odd bit of lubrication. So IMHO the PSE does not cause drone.
What I would say is roof down sport mode is the most audible fun with lots of pops crackles and bangs 😂😂😂😎👍

Quick update. I followed the above advice and bought the Ableconn mSATA to IDE converter caddy plus a 64GB mSATA card to put in it. Removed the OEM IDE/ATA HDD from the PCM and cloned it to an image file on my Windows computer hard drive using AOMEI Backupper. Restored the image file to the Ableconn, installed it to the PCM. Worked first time. Total cost around £75, including the cost of the Inateck external IDE HDD reader that I also needed.

Highly recommended preventative maintenance project and probably not a moment too soon, as while cloning the PCM's OEM HDD I noticed that it was starting to get a bit clicky ...

I really wish I new what all this means but there you go. I blame my age 😂😂😂👍

Glad it worked out for you what ever it means 👍

Hi all. Really tempted to get the PSE fitted to my base 981 Boxster which has Boxster S twin tips on the end (not sports tips). The price through OPC is around £500 cheaper if new tips are not required. Does anyone know if an OPC will fit the PSE using my Boxster S tips rather than the Sports tips that they quote as part of the full package?

    Thanks

    Andrew

Same thing. I had the PSE retro fitted at my OPC using my sport tips that were fitted to the car. When trying to get the job done originally they said I didn’t have the sport tips fitted to my car. So I dropped in and had a tec confirm that what I had fitted would fit the PSE. As far as I’m concerned what  ever twin outlet you have fitted will fit the PSE as long as it’s a standard exhaust currently fitted as the diameter of the connecting pipes are the same. But if it’s not a choir just drop by your OPC 👍

OK, my curiosity has got the better of me.... what the hell is a mega blaster blower, and where can I get one?

😂😂 As mentioned a device that blows air. I use Airforce Blaster Sidekick. Put that in your search engine 👍

lol,  not sure what that makes me then,  completely boring, i love cleaning cars.   Wheel woolies are great,  you wait it will be addicted, you will need to be with a black car.    Get one of those cheap pet driers and you wont have to hardly touch the paintwork,  there are levels and once you get one of those there really is no going back lol

😂😂 I’ve used a mega blaster blower on my car from day one. It’s ceramic coated so the water just runs off. I’ve never hand dried the car the same as my motorcycle. 👍

  9. @BarrySt Out today roof down and the performance of the Pippens Wind deflector is spot on. Fit is perfect so no rattling. As for turbulence nothing that I would moan about. I can drive at a very progressive SAFE speed with my cap on and there is no threat of loosing it. So that’s how I’d gage excessive wind turbulence. Visually it is a vast improvement IMHO especially seeing the PORSCHE etching in the rear view mirror 👍

Thanks. Actually I do find quite a lot of turbulence top down. Perhaps I'm sitting higher in seats? As Menoporsche says it's solid compared to Mesh which made me wonder if it would have a different aerodynamic effect on air flow. But understand that visibility should be improved and it looks good. If we ever get decent weather back then please let us know if you find any difference on windiness!

    Will do 👍

Any advantage over existing deflector for reduced wind turbulence?

I didn’t find the Porsche wind deflector a problem where wind turbulence is concerned. In fact I didn’t suffer any whilst top down driving. As for the pippen deflector. Due to the horrendous weather at present no roof down driving opportunities have presented themselves 😂😂 Can’t see there being any difference as it is exactly the same dimensions

  12. Order a wind deflector from pippenswinddefectors.com for my 981 Boxster. Not glass but you’d be hard pushed to tell that from looking. Fit is perfect and the free etched logo (of your choice) is perfect. No connection with the company but thought I’d share. Ordered Wednesday and delivered all securely packed on the Friday 👍

Wish I could attach photos but alas beyond me 😂

My 2013 doesn't have them fitted. I think the regulation only came in from about 2015 for them to be mandatory on cars.

Yep I’ve a 2013 MY that does not have TPMS. Had them on my BM Motorcycles for yrs and there really important IMHO on two wheels but on four. I’m not sure

  14. Bought new rear smoked lights for my 981 from local OPC. Yet again certain well known Porsche part suppliers are more expensive than your OPC. Or at least following the 10% discount for PCGB membership. But honestly I think anyone can get 10% as I’ve never been asked for proof of PCGB membership. Hopefully get them by the weekend and fitting Saturday or Sunday.

  15. I was expecting it but always a disappointment. Call from OPC today. Delay on X73 parts from Germany so fitted date pushed back to 14th June 😢 Oh well at least because of the delay I’ve secured a loan car. Hope it’s not something other than a Porsche 😂😂👍

I have had two quotes in the last month, one was £2600 the other £2900. As I am not that flush I have brought a second hand exhaust from ebay which I’ll have modified. Won’t be switchable, but hey ho

Any OPC should honour the price in the Tequipment catalog which is £2161. I had the same when I enquired. Local OPC quoted way over the Tequipment price. So I showed them the price and the honoured it.

What region are you ?...mine haven't arranged any runs yet :(

R14 S Wales. Run hopefully on 9th May. But as you would expect it’s over subscribed so they have also put on the same run for the Saturday.
