  1. Picked up a set of eurolites headlight deflectors from Halfords. Simple fit over the dipped headlight as per instructions. So I’ll take them and if I need them it’s a one minute job 👍

how much driving are you planning to do at night? and what type of lights do you have?

last few trips i've done to europe i havent bothered changing anything on the headlights as firstly, we were never driving anywhere at night anyways, and secondly, the self leveling xenons the car had were very flat beam. it used to be only old halogens that had a noticable flick up to one side.

And to be honest, most cars these days have such high, bright headlights they look like they're on high beam when they arent anyways...

I’ve ridden in Europe many times on tours with the lads. But now it’s the time of life to share things with the Mrs. So this is a little tour to see how she gets on before taking on more adventures towards the Alps if she enjoys it.
Yep we didn’t bother with headlight adjustment on the bikes but now since leaving the EU I just don’t want to be caught out. I’m not planning on any night time driving so might well just decide not to adjust them. Especially as our return will see me driving the final leg home in the dark hours and it’s a headlight out job to adjust. So it’s not what I’d want to be doing in the 20-30 mins of the crossing.
I’ll see what the stickers are like when I pick them up from Halfords and yes I’m mindful of the possibility of them leaving some sort of residue. But they would be an easy remove on my return and if stopped by the European police at least it’s a visual sign I’ve taken the appropriate measures.

  3. So just read the appropriate section in Owners Manual and it’s a headlight out job and alter tab to centralise beam. Bit of a phaf but there you go. I’ve ordered some deflector stickers from Halfords so I’ll see if that’s an easier alternative 👍

Out of interest where are you going to do just 5 days? I am planning a trip next year with the assistance of a planning company. They have advised 7 days minimum.

Short trip starting in Bournemouth as we are visiting that area from S Wales. Over on Channel Chunnel first night Bruge in Belgium. From there travel to Adenau where we are staying two nights. We will visit Cochem and lap the Nurburgring whilst in Adenau. Then travel to Monschau for the night before back via Chunnel ☀️😎👍

  5. Ok so I’m doing a five day road trip in Europe early September. What headlight adjustment is needed in the 981. Do you just put stick on deflectors straight onto the headlights. I’ve just got standard lights.
    Cheers

    Looks great 👍

Did you have much trouble swapping it over?

TBH I visited my local Indy. With the x73 suspension it’s a bit of a phaff and after my struggle with the front lip I just thought nope not again. So whilst I had breakfast at the coffee shop around the corner they had it up in the air and fitted before I finished breakfast 🍳😂👍

@Ringmaster999get yourself Waze and a Spotify subscription that pretty much covers all bases.

Cheers @daz05 this sort of stuff is new to me. Just downloaded Spotify 👍 Already had the Waze app but I’ve never used it yet 🙄😂. Main thing for me was getting the Nav (when needed) through the PCM unit as apposed to through the phone on a mount stuck to the front screen 👍

  8. Had Integrated Automotive Porsche Apple CarPlay installed by Western Car Radio in Bristol this afternoon. It also happens to be the Bristol Harbour Boat Festival. So a nice afternoon walking around whilst it was being fitted 👍

Initial thoughts. Handy having the SatNav  through the PCM unit and the phone off the mount on the screen and tucked away in the centre arm rest. As for the rest of its features. Well I need to up my game and become more tec savi before I would benefit from it. Already downloaded a few radio apps 😂😂 So I’m trying 👍

I want to get a longer cable and route it out of sight, probably into the other power socket in the centre armrest, and maybe mount the phone on the lower right side of the windscreen, but I'd be interested to see if anyone has come up with a better solution.

This is what I’ve been doing. But Saturday I’m having Apple CarPlay fitted and my plan then is to house the phone in the centre armrest with a short power cable plugged into the socket if the phone needs a charge. Obviously then everything will come through the PCM system 👍

Reading this thread made me think about my 3rd party warranty, which is due for renewal in a couple of months. So i e-mailed them specifically asking if Active engine mounts are covered and reply was yes 🙂,   what with the other specific parts that are covered, £200/hr+vat labour, no excess, no consequential failure, wear/tear, etc.  it seems to almost be mirroring a OPC one. Hopefully wont have to try it, but i have done all i can to try and secure decent cover

Which 3rd party warranty company are you using @alank? If you don’t mind me asking what are the price schedules 👍

  11. Booked the car in to Western Car Radios for a fit of Apple CarPlay. Yes I know you can do it yourself but I’m not that way inclined 😂😂 Well not these days. It’s a little trip as we’re the other side of the bridge as they are Bristol based so we’ll make a day of it. 29th June 👍

Haven’t all 981’s got the Sport button even if they haven’t got the full Sports chrono?

Mine has got Sports chrono but I only really use the sport button to sharpen it up and get the sports exhaust popping.

    Nice looking car 👍

Yep sport is on all non Sports Chrono cars and indeed there is an obvious difference in the cars performance when the Sport button is activated. But what I believe this device is suppose to do is quicken/sharpen up the actual throttle response. I suppose similar to a quick action throttle device on motorcycles. If your a biker you’d I’m sure be aware of these which are popular on sports bikes and track bikes.

  14. OK so met another 981 2.7 Boxster owner today who had heavily modded his car to an incredible level. He might well be on hear. If you are Kieran I hope you don’t mind me showing your car and asking about your suggested mod.  A lot of you I’m sure would have seen his car before on social media etc. Anyway before I left he mentioned this

and basically said it was an incredible improvement for your throttle response. Anyone else fitted one and have any feedback 👍

  15. You were lucky there usually packed with commuters, wandering sheep and horses with the odd cow thrown in for good measure. Weathers usually cr*p. Can’t see that much because of the rain. Especially on the mountain roads because of the low cloud. I’d stay away. 🙄🙄🙄

Well I might be just a tad sceptical as I live in S. Wales.😂😂😂

  16. I had PSE retro fitted by my local OPC back in Oct 20 at a cost of £2118 as my car had the sports tail pipes. When they first quoted they were a bit over the advertised price on the tecquipment website so I just brought this to there attention and they  matched the price advertised 👍

Awesome mod which obviously gives you the opportunity to have it in smiles and grin mode or more sedate sensible mode 😂😂

finally fitted the spoiler i had made,    £300 total cost including paint.   Not going to say it was as easy as we planned but its not a porsche part so the mounts took a little more time this afternoon to do on the porsche spoiler brackets.   Now fits perfect.  very happy

That looks great. Your skills are excellent. How did you make it? Did you make a mold from an original spoiler. I’ve done the Spyder conversion using OEM parts and including paint it was £700. So you’ve made a fantastic saving. Might be an opportunity if you can produce more 👍
