I got round to assembling and fitting the side scoops today. A little bit fiddly and a bit cold for the tape but I got round it👍

I think they work well with the splitter and definitely look better in body colour (or as close as I could get to it 😂)

Overall quite a enjoyable little project, not too expensive and reversible if I change my mind.

Anyone thinking about fitting these I would recommend buying them already painted, buying some proper 10mm 3m vhb tape and be very careful removing your oem vents so you don’t lose any securing tabs😎

Excellent job Gareth. Awesome. Now just a speed test to confirm they’ll stay on and RESULT. I’ll have to get on with mine now. 😂😂

You didn’t go with some mesh over the inlet after?

btw it's missing it's little rubber spoiler under the front bumper !

Wow @daz05 you are soooo observant 😂😂 There’s a story here. This is how the car looked on its way down to the ring. But it’s appearance changed on entering an underground car park of a hotel in Bruges. The ramp down under the hotel was so steep I couldn’t see the angle at the bottom and the lip you see was ripped off on the R/H side. So I had to remove it completely before the journey continued. Cars on x73 so it used to catch often but the steep ramp was the last straw. I’m not put off as I’m considering a GT4 style front bumper from 911 😂😂

I need to do mine, was it easy and what did you use?

My scoops are on their way over from the far east 😂

Yea not difficult. I bought this mesh of eBay item number  225082789070.

Made a cardboard template out of the box it came in. Which is perfect as you can use the folds in the box to create the centre fold that then fits on the plastic centre cross pice of the intake duct.

If you ordered the ones I did they literally arrived a few days later. Surprised me as I was expecting them to be a few weeks. I’m also convinced they are copy’s of the OEM part as they have raised lines that when lined up with the curved edge of the plastic OEM duct covers (that you pull off) I’m sure if attached together they would be in the perfect position. But I’ll find that out over the next few days when I try 😂👍

I saw some on a thread where they were  fixed to existing vent and double sided taped.

I think they will look very good but I wouldn’t be able to wait till spring to fit them 😂

Apparently reading the autosports thread if you buy the GT4 plastic surrounds that fit flush with the car they have two pre drilled holes. The side scoops I’ve purchased have two pre drilled holes. So I’m guessing there a direct copy of the OEM item and will correspond with the holes in the GT4 plastic surrounds.
This along with double sided tape I’m sure would be up to the job. I’m not sure the SIX holes drilled in the autosports thread is what’s done on the GT4. I think SIX fixings might be a bit OTT Just my thoughts.

They seem pretty cost effective at just over £100. How substantial are they, wouldn't want them to fly off on my normal 140mph commute.

That my friend is the million dollar question. They’re sturdy in their construction but flying off I suppose will all depend on how they’re attached. 😂👍

How do you envisage fitting them tape or self tappers? (I do realise the side panels are plastic BTW  :))

There going to be fitted by the body shop that sprayed them. They advised against screwing and will use a combination of double sided tape and an adhesive type sealant in white.
I believe the GT4 model has the scoops stuck on with double sided type. But I could be wrong 👍

Thanks @andygo....I have fitted the X-73 anti roll bars and can feel the difference (improved) in the overall handling.

Im about to speak to Lee at CPS about fitting the rest of the kit.

X73 on my MY13 981 Boxster is awesome. Cars stance is far more purposeful in looks. Ride quality is at first OMG what have I done 😂😂 but my experience after a 1000 miles is it’s fine. Handling is vastly improved over standard. Only consideration is ground clearance has been reduced somewhat but nothing I’ve really ever had a problem with 👍

So, thanks for the advice - the maintenance booklet unfortunately says 'white'

The link above to the 2013MY says "Pure white" so I assume this is my colour according to my VIN

Confusingly, mine is a 2012 reg vehicle & in this year, Boxsters were Carrara white.

To be completely sure I emailed Porsche GB & got this reply

"We have checked the Porsche database which states that the colour is ‘White’. There is no other wording attached to the colour."

Will get some pure white & see if it matches 🤣

Mine is pure white MY13 Porsche official Colour Code 0Q White LC9A

Glad you got this sorted!  My turn now, there is a little rattle coming from my rear window!  If you tap it it sounds like its loose but it's secure.

There appears to be some screws around it so perhaps one has loosened up.

    Keep us posted Daz 👍

  10. Ok so picked the car up today from OPC Cardiff. Who I must say have been brilliant in the way they have dealt with me and the repair. After the hook mechanism change which didn’t rectify the issue they replace the two micro switches that are found under the roof on either side. After prolonged testing this appears to have resolved the issue.

So happy so have it resolved and at a reasonable cost IMHO. Only £144 in parts. So if your handy and prepared to take on removing the roof yourself and drilling out the rivets holding the plates on the micro switches are attached to then it’s not a costly repair 👍

  11. So little update on this one.
Car was dropped of at my local OPC over two weeks ago now. After plugging it in to the diagnostic no faults were stored so that hasn’t helped at all. On discussing the issue with the service manager, ex Gold technician it was decided to try changing the central hook mechanism.
I discussed the issue around replacing parts that didn’t rectify the problem and cost. I was reassured that it would not be at my cost if it didn’t fix the problem. So the part was replaced and they kept the car for testing. Unfortunately it failed again so TBH they are now not sure how to proceed. So after today’s telephone conversation they mentioned they might contact Porsche Technical for direction.

Lets see what comes back. I must say it’s extremely frustrating and disappointing that this problem cannot be rectified easily it seems. 🙁

You can change up (and down) before the redline with your paddles remember..

So is there a difference in the actual car’s performance from Sport. Which as we know when activated has a different notable performance than normal.

  13. I run x73, retro fitted at my local OPC. Car handles like it’s on rails. Comfort not to bad but does on occasions cause ground clearance issues. The front lip in the picture used to ground out a lot. So I had to remove it 😂👍
