  1. As mentioned above I dropped the car off Monday to a well respected Wheel Refurb shop local to me. I was contacted Thursday morning to say the car wouldn’t be ready until late Friday as they weren’t happy with the colour match on the wheels after it they had been powder coated too the OPC supplied centre caps I’d given them in Porsche Aurum gold. So they were going to strip and re-due them and the car would be ready Friday evening. Car picked up tonight and to say I’m delighted with the finish is an understatement. Can’t wait for the GT4 style front bumper to go on now in March.

also I’m not sure what you would of done if the locking wheel bolts would have been fitted as the key bolt would have been in the front boot

Great point on the locking nut. I thought you could open doors using the emergency key even if the window can’t drop due to lack of power. 🤷‍♂️

  3. Just dropped it off at the wheel refurbishing shop. Going Porsche Satin Aurum Gold with Aurum centre caps 🫣🫣 Hopefully it’ll look good. Think when I have the GT4 style front bumper fitted in March it’ll look great. Before photo. Will post another when I pick the car up 👍

Sometimes people are happy to buy a back box to send to Carnewal so they can still drive their cars while it's being done.

Yep that’s exactly why the person bought it 👍

<wazz on bonfire>  So now the clock starts on how many months it takes for one of the valves to seize?  </wazz on bonfire>

My biggest fear I must be honest. But it’s used frequently on a drive just for the sake of opening and closing the valves. They also get regular WD40 sprayed on and then manually operated to get that all in. Never had an issue and three years and 15k miles of use 👍 must admit car isn’t driven through winter

Just wondering if they gave you a trade-in allowance for the used standard exhaust against the PSE? I’m probably going down the route of a non-PSE ,981 so was already wondering 🤔 ……………

I had PSE Retro fitted back in Nov 2020. Asked to have the old exhaust and sold it for £100 privately. If I hadn’t asked for it as far as I am aware they just bin it.
Must admit when I had the x73 suspension retro fitted the following year I couldn’t be bother retrieving the standard suspension and anti roll bars. All of which I presume ended up in their scrap bin 😳 TBH I think I made a mistake there as the car only had 20k on it. You live and learn.

  7. I have no issues with Goodyear F1. Good tyres for general fast road work. Just changed the rears after 14k and the fronts still have 4-5mm on from when I changed all four 14k ago.

Surely £1500 in the bank for your next car is still there you just have it in the goods rather than the bank. Enjoy the experience of your car here and now.

I definitely look at it this way. In most cases you don’t loose a penny and might even make a very small profit. Good example on my 981 is the Ducktail spoiler. Prices have gone up so much I’d definitely get my money back and possibly a very small profit 👍

  9. Yea these have been talked about and purchased by quite a few 981 owners on a WhatsApp group I’m on. In deed I think the guy who makes them sent @Dazone to trial. They do look good but I have a Spyder Ducktail spoiler fitted and just couldn’t live with the height difference between the taillights and spoiler due to the additional light bars thickness. That makes it look a bit “add on” for me. Along with the fact the supplier has to shave plastic off the plug in socket to make it fit the loom.

But everyone is different and if you like it you like it. For those interested if you barter the price some of the 981 WattsApp guys have got it for £260 I think all in.

Just had a replacement through my insurance company, if I'd had a crystal ball at the time I would of paid for the screen out of my own pocket and not had 4 weeks of being f'd around. The replacement is a St Gobain screen as the original but the gap to the frame seems larger all-round.

I've gone for PPF on the new screen to avoid going through that again

Yes I’d definitely think of PPF if I bite the bullet and can’t live with the chip. Which PPF did you go for and if you don’t mind sharing what were the costs 👍

  11. Picked up a chip in the windscreen. Drivers side in the drivers eye line. But here’s the annoying thing. Too small to repair and doesn’t affect the screens integrity. So apparently not an MOT failure 🤬 As such I doubt it’s an insurance job. But I haven’t approached them on it as I’m of the opinion they’re going to say following an inspection it’s fine and a change would only be for cosmetic reasons. Which I doubt they would pay for. Price I’ve been quoted for an exact replacement is £535 fitted. 🤬🤬🤬

Hi Andy, no worries, it was £955 including VAT. To be honest I’ve only driven it a few miles back home, however I doubt it will feel any different to me.
As an aside I got the timesheet from the service department - work began at 9.27am and lasted until 4.07pm so 6.5 hours!

6.5 hours labour would put it at well over a grand on labour alone at most OPC’s as my local OPC hourly rate is £170 plus VAT. So I’m guessing they never actually worked on it for 6.5 hours 🤷‍♂️
