  1. I kept getting dual warning lights for abs and pasm , so after some research came to the conclusion it was the brake light switch , ordered a new one but while waiting for it I decided to  remove and clean up the old one , was a bit of a fiddle, but cleaned up and reset the plunger ,fingers crossed no lights when driving now , hope this helps anyone experiencing the same symptoms of flickering brake lights

  2.  Locktons do mine , guaranteed value , track  cover , genuine  parts if in bump , Europe cover and breakdown cover , with limited mileage of 5k and salvage buy back if required , last year they came in at £250 fully comp , Chubb was the insurance company used last year .pcgb discount too , although this year on comparison site I can get it for £120 but without most of the stuff above

  3. I had this on my facelift 2004  986s , it was the ignition barrel , the cheap Audi part that normally fits , doesn't fit the facelift , if yours is older then I'd try the Audi  ignition switch first , it's the plastic bit that fits inside the barrel if not then it might be the full ignition switch which was the case with mine  , good luck

Heard a tale the other day of Volvo buying back cars with known history for far more than their listed price, not because of rarity value but because a shortage of chips in China means there’s an 8 month or more wait for  new cars. I’d be happy to get £2,500 above list. Then again WBAC value old Boxster at less than 10% of that.

By the way Woodleigh have always been on the higher price scale in my opinion.

    Fish with your Chips anyone?

    Dave

Woodleigh top notch though on customer service and warranty , fitted me a replacement gearbox as second gear was notchy, new gear link cables and two gearbox fluid changes, new rear brakes and various bits and bobs , I'd certainly recommend them , must have cost £4k in warranty

  5. I'd go for a stock exhaust and have the bypass mod done , you just missed out on one on here  done with the carenwal mod for £360, great value that was , if you get a decent used exhaust revolution in Leeds do the bypass mod ,sounds ace and no drone ,

  6. Thanks Rav  for the heads up , Sheffield Porsche have been accommodating, apparently it's the car that's the member  ,so luckily I can  have a membership for  each of  the two I've got .

    Also thanks OPC Sheffield 👍

I generally use Fuchs Titan Supersyn 5W-40 High Performance Fully Synthetic Engine Oil.

Meets the A40 spec and sells for around £30 for 5 litres.

Occasionally you can see a deal going at Opie Oils for it and then it comes in at around £20 - £25 for 5 litres.

Pretty sure that Fuchs own (or owned) Silkolene.

Plus 1 on this I use it on my 944s2 and on the boxster , Porsche rated too ,  Pipercross on eBay do 2x5 litres for around £40

  8. I've a 3.2 s seal grey 04 plate 71000 3 owner with good spec ,manual  , out of curiousity I did a wbac last month came back with £6400, if you leave it bit the offer  gradually grows , I reckon you'd get around  £7.5 k in the current climate privately , if not a tad more

  9. I had my 986 facelift 3.2s done at revolution , can't fault them, sounds really nice just right , I de snorkelled mine and put in k& n filter , best money I've spent , you won't regret it and  it doesn't drone

  10. I had this fail just recently as the front spring snapped on the same trip , had to have it recovered , I took mine to revolution Porsche  Danny called me after investigation and told me my ignition switch was toast , I had the same symptoms as no resitence when turning key , I had to stall mine for it to shut off, , BUT on the facelift cars the switch is more expensive , luckily he managed to source a used GC part for me for £95 which saved me a fair bit ,

Well done though on doing it yourself , there's something quite satisfying doing a repair on your own  , if it had been just the £20 electric bit on the ignition switch I'd have had a go myself
