  1. Hard to tell without seeing any pics but sounds possibly like a handbrake reassembly issue.

The handbrake cable doesn't actually move all too much. It's the lever mechanism that it's connected to that pushes the brake shoes outwards.

It kinda sounds like that mechanism may not be seated properly, hence your brake shoes are sitting too far apart.

I don't know for sure on the 987, but on the 986 you ahve to turn the key back to position 0. It will not restart from position 1.  I found this bl**dy annoying when I first got mine until I learned this.

    This feature really bugs me.

I've just transferred a private plate onto the car so I won't have an updated V5 for a while yet.

Recently done the same and the V5 came 3 days after I transferred the private plate online.

  4. All the hard work of the past month and half has paid off, my 987.1 passed it's MOT today.

Took it for a lovely A and B road blast, she did great.

No signs of leaking coolant anywhere either!

The next thing I need to look at is the binding roof. Basically the clamshell "arms" catch the soft top along the very bottom.

Any tips on how to diagnose the cause of? I'm happy working on any of the rest of the car but never had a soft top before, so could do with some pointers, thanks.

  5. What does this Jig look like?

I assume it's like a thick manifold plate, that you bolt on using the bolts holes that aren't blocked by broken studs and then drill the broken studs out?
The plate ensuring you are dead centre on the stud.

  6. After spending 5 weeks on the ramps, she looks pleased to being back on all fours and heading outdoors.

    Jobs completed :-

All new coolant piping at the front
    Coolant flush
    Oil change
    Brake fluid flush
    Wheels refurbed
    Calipers painted
    Damaged AC Condensers replaced
    New dryer/dessicator installed
    New ARB bushes
Front wheel arch area given a thorough clean (rears to follow)
    Polish and wax

After being left to idle for about half an hour to burp the cooling system, she streched her legs out a little by going up and down the drive a few times (currenlty SORN'd so can't yet hit the road).

A quick wash to get rid of the dust that had collected on her and she's back on the ramps ready for some more work to be carried out.

Can't start car just yet, as it's parked on the ramps, on 4 stands, all the wheels off facing front side pointing out of garage.
    Getting there slowly though.
