There are some variations depending on 5 or 6 speed, Tip and whether you have PSM for the reservoir as it shares with the clutch on the manual 'boxes. The master cylinder is only different if you have PSM, otherwise the same for all the gearbox options. Can I suggest you download the PDF of the Porsche parts catalogue from here:

Porsche Classic Genuine Parts Catalogue - Porsche Great Britain

and do a thorough check for your car.

@TROOPER88 do you know enough about the differences between 2.7 and 3.2 brakes to comment here having physically seen many of both versions?

Thanks, having had a good search around it appears that the part numbers are the same for 2.7 and 3.2s non psm servo's/master cylinders, so it shouldn't matter having 's' fronts and 2.7 rears, just better front braking

Silly question but if you upgrade to 3.2 discs on a 2.7 doesn’t inner wheel clearance and wheel size apply?

No question is silly, it's usually the answers 😂

If you have 16" wheels, probably, but I have 18" Panamera wheels with spacers 😉

Mine was 987 thus 997 GT3. Don’t know about 986 and as I never heard it here I assume it’s not an option. 987 was direct replacement to the extent they look almost identical, including part number!

    Did it improve braking?

Thanks guys, will have a looky at the servo, they seem pretty expensive anyone got a link? Or would you get one from Steve Strange etc?

  4. Ayup! 😁

Got a bit of an intermittent fault with me brakes, most of the time they're OK ish but every now and then the pedal goes hard and they're pretty much none existent 😲 it's a bit scary especially with the boost in bhp.

Any thoughts? I was thinking maybe master cylinder or servo

Aren't you going to need a press to refit that? I would have though if it fit in by hand the suspension would be a bit wobbly.

My neighbour has a press, freeze the insert, heat the bracket and press it back in? Or get a second hand bracket 🤔

  7. YAY!

Tis off 😁 Took a while and as you said an impact wrench for the drop link pinch bolt, and a deep socket that fitted over the ball. And also, after a couple of hard smacks with a big lump hammer and my splitter the ball joint was defeated.

    Now the other side 😯

Do the springs compress or are they generally OK? As long as they're not broken.

Anyone know of any cheap, but good, coffin arms and drop links for sale?

  8. Ok, so I've started on the o/s rear, got the camber/toe bolts out bearing nut is off and driveshaft is loose.

For the life of me I can't get the coffin arm ball joint to release even with heat and a splitter, which now means I'm gonna have to change the coffin arm cos it's split the boot. Also the pinch bolt on the strut carrier won't come out even though the strut is loose.

  9. Hi peeps

Just bought a set of Bilstein b4 shocks due to the old ones being a bit knackered, do I need to purchase anything else as a matter of course ie top mounts etc, or should it be good to go?

  10. Wiper blades judder when they're not at right angles to the screen, use a small adjustable spanner to gently bend the metal wiper arm until the blade sits at 90 degrees 😉

  11. I have retro fitted stalk controls and wiring etc for computer/cruise, but when I asked my OPC they wanted £130 to 'try' and switch them on with their PIWIS system!

This seems rather a lot for something that should only take about ½ an hour. Does anyone know of anywhere in East anglia that could do it?

I need 225/40 front and 265/35 rear, looking at blackcircles I see PS2 with N3 rating and PS4 without N rating, which ones are better if I'm more concerned about riding quality than handling at extreme?

I saw old threads about PS4 > PS2 but was that compared with the N3 version? What does the N rating mean exactly? Price wise the rear cost about the same, but PS4 is £60 a pair cheaper at front.

N ratings are Porsche approved tyres, the higher the number the more improvements have been made to that tyre. There is some speculation as to insurance claims that they wont pay out if the car doesn't have N rated tyres on, although I find that hard to believe, some garages will only fit N rated tyres.

I don't think there's much ride quality difference between PS2 and PS4, but others will prob disagree.

  13. Maybe you have a slight RMS leak due to the car now being used regularly and that will settle down, it seems to me they all leak slightly in that location, mine was the same when I started using it regularly and now it's stopped.

I think what you're seeing on the drive is a coolant leak from the pump, take the inside engine inspection panel off and have a looky and feel all around the pump for leaks.

In the meantime you could put a sheet of cardboard under the engine/gearbox to confirm the locality of the leak.

    Mmmm Focal speakers - lovely.

Interested in your views on how they sound mounted in the Bose shelf - have looked at that option before but wondered if the shelf design is too specific to Bose.

Can you let me know which Focal kit or components you have used please?  And if you have them, some photos of the tweeter install in the Bose shelf would be really helpful.

Have you also upgraded the dash speakers and if so what brand/model did you use?

Curious about the sub location  (and brand/model) - where else did you consider putting it?  Under the driver's seat for example?

How have you approached the system's amplification?

Looks like a lot of thought and effort has gone into the car as whole 👏

TBH it was kinda an experiment, like yourself I wasn't too sure how they would sound but I was pleasantly surprised! Really decent sound from a budget kit. I think keeping to the original setup of separate woofers and tweeters, with the addition of crossovers fitted in the enclosure, is the only way to go with the shelf. This kit fits easily using the same mounting holes for the woofers, and the tweeters come with little mounting pods, choice of three, I used the straight ones and they slot right into the original housing, you need to drill through for the cable, and I secured using hot glue, although you can use screws if you wish, sorry I haven't got any pic's.

    The kit ..... https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/focal-130as-access-series-13cm-5-25-component-car-speakers-with-sound-proofing-material.html

Dash speakers are Pioneer ......  https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07574Y2GY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Choices are limited for speakers because of the size and fitment, but these sound great, adaption kit I bought to fit them .....  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115061872838?hash=item1aca38d8c6:g:WOYAAOSwf4pg0NbW

The sub was a difficult one, as in where to mount it, I wanted it to fill the cabin naturally without distortion or bouncing off panels etc, the problem with fitting under the seat is it makes the seat vibe 😂 and that one wouldn't fit anyhoo. The only other place to fit it would of been in the passenger foot well, and I didn't want it to be in the way of a good leg stretch 🤣 ...... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/352729430636?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=7101533165274578&mkcid=2&itemid=352729430636&targetid=4584826055637462&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=&poi=&campaignid=412354546&mkgroupid=1299623041023876&rlsatarget=pla-4584826055637462&abcId=9300541&merchantid=87779&msclkid=42a45a718b4f17a9f3e03b089ca516b5

Thinking about it I'm not sure I would buy that one again, maybe get a sub speaker and box it in myself, hay-ho.

The amp I put under the seat

Although I may move it as the seat touches it if you have it at it's lowest.
