I keep wondering if I should get a 900SS for fun but in the UK prices have gone stratospheric. Should've got one before lock down.
The classic 900SS doesn’t go cheap no where this days….
I have some classic bikes and in my mid is making a Italian Poker:
Guzzi Lemans (I have this one)
Ducati 900SS (I have this one)
Benelli 900 sei (I haven’t this one)
Laverda 750SFC replica racer, I haven’t this, just a 1000 Jota
As I’m not a rich man, I will sell some bikes who I not interested in to finance my little Italian suite…

Where did you get the seat unit? Did you figure out why the bike wasn't running? Guzzis can be temperamental but they don't often break catastrophically....
This Guzzi stopped in running condition 11 years ago as the owner went to old to ride it, hopefully the engine is not to bad conditions, an other good thing is that Guzzi parts not very expensive.
I have some more bikes waiting some drastic changes (but without any more budget limit then what my wallet can support…)
1. Guzzi California 1000 to make something fun of.
2. Ducati ST4S to make a 888 replica, I bought the bike in Madrid last week just by photo and sent it to friends work shop (one of the CafeRacer group) for a small overhaul, as the idea is taking a flight to Madrid to pickup the bike, drive it down to Huelva, from there I take the ferry to Gran Canaria..
3 Ducati 900SS 1976 to make a classic look racer of.
At this moment I’m respraying a modern R6 who belongs to a Scottish friend.
In other word I keep my self busy!

Old fork, front callipers from CBR900RR 180€
A no running Guzzi for 1250€
Aluminium fuel tank from India 300€
etc..

Really - whereabouts? Love a caff racer....
I’m in a small privet group of 26 members who build cafe racers in Spain and 2 members lives In Almeria, we come from all parts in Spain, once a year we have a meeting somewhere during a weekend, each one of us have to build a special bike for this, during the meeting we drink, eat and vote de best bike of the year,
What is tricky is that you shall not spend more then 2500€ as max budget, this makes it funnier obligating looking for cheap used parts and making everything your self!
My build for this year will be a Moto Guzzi 1000.

Meno is your nearest neighbour on here. I'm sure he'd like a little ferry trip. Guess I'm second nearest. Sometimes.
Anyway tell us about the 3.9....
Are you situated at any of the Canary Islands or main land?
I will have a 3.4ltr engine block sent to Hartech for new cylinder liners etc…

Suddenly I remembered I will move to the North Pole 🥲

I mean this with all the “ British humour “. But you are clearly mad and also have great skills and great enthusiasm. Wish I was nearer and I could share a beer with you.
love it that you bought the car back from dead. Well done.
Let me know if you have holiday at Gran Canaria, I can guarantee free beer 🍺
cheers

Excellent work @El Vikingo Tropical. Glad to hear she breathes again.
Did you ever work out what the left over pin was?
To be honest, no, and I’m glad if I never find out it blowing the engine….
As I had the engine completely un assembled in old boxes from a dirty garage I hope the shaft not belong to my engine, Normally at this engine there always at least two of all as you have to equal engine half’s from each three cylinder bank…
I just want this engine working until I finish the 3.9 engine who Im planning for this car…

Put in the engine in the Boxster without a car lift is not easiest thing I have to say, but now it’s done and the car have been started

My first thought too.
Great thread!
To be honest I can’t be sure if the part is from this engine or not, as I had bought the car with the engine totally unassembled in boxes🤪….

No. It’s not nr3 in that drawing.
The one I have is not hollow and have smaller diameter, it’s not a tube it’s like a small shaft/axle…
but thanks for trying to help!😅
