Jeoff
I got a couple of online quotes. After a few days Porsche disappeared as a manufacturer. Now the guy called me and explained they would honour my enquiry but no more Porsche warranties from Warranty Direct. So I got 13 months warranty (I asked for my £25 BoXa.net discount and he was unable but gave me an extra month for free) for £360. Do you think that's good for gold cover up to 5 grand. There is no way I am paying over twice that for Porsche main stealer warranty.Jeoff
Adam
wonder where that leaves me as I have a monthly cover policy rather than annual/2 year - I pay £40 pcm for platinumgives me a monthls notice in case my circumstances change but presumably my policy will continue (I hope)

Adam
thanks Jeoff - although I have a sneaky suspicion the premiums might rocket as presumably they are finding Porsches to expensive to cover

Work carried out by a Porsche Independent Specialist. I'm sure it would have been more at an OPC.best wishes,Colin.
Beazer
Jut got a quote for Gold Cover on my 50,000 mile 2000 S from Warranty Direct: £385 if using an independent garage, £415 if using an OPC. Obviously the cost is a lot lower than the £725 the OPC charge. The only thing is I often gets small jobs done under the existing OPC warranty when the car is in for a service, whereas it would be more hassle to put a separate claim in via Warranty Direct. But is £300 in my pocket better than in the OPC's? Answers on a postcard please.

Not much use if the worst happens and your engine goes...Does anyone know the details of the new Porsche Approved warranty (introduced in late 2004) ? The old one didn't cover RMS failure, and covered cars up to 8 years old (called Master Plus) or 8 - 15 years old (Master). I understand the new one does cover RMS and is better than the old one - but what about the age of the car (mine will be 7 years old in June - though it is still immaculate )I'm thinking of paying the £725 for the new Porsche Warranty when my 'Independent' one runs out in June. It's a lot of £££, but I can't think of anything worse than having to fork out £10k to repair my car !
Adam
got the platinum cover which covers RMS and repairs to the value of the car - so that will cover a new enginecosts £40 per mth which is more coz I pay monthly rather than for a full year

The worst has already happened and I had an engine rebuilt last summer. Has anybody had 2 engines fail?
RichC
Doesn't the Porsche one give you breakdown cover via Porsche Assist too? That's worth a bit ~£100 for comparable AA cover, so you're down to £200 difference, on a car like that got to be worth it surely.....

Subversive
just called them they will cover my S at 400 for the platinum but they will not cover any consumable items.. eg, clutch friction plate, discs etc... and will only cover RMS seals as long as you don't have any 'weeping' leaks already... Don't see the point now....

macboxster
Just had my car serviced and the mass flywheel needs replacing, front track rod ends, a leak on the steering rack and rms. Im with warranty direct may seem like a silly question can i claim for all of them at the same time.
BrianJ
Just called them for a quote and asked them why Porsche had dropped off their web listing. She put me on hold and came back to say they no longer do Boxsters on their Warranty Direct product but would do so through their "Dealer" product at about £450. She didn't volunteer any details and I didn't push it as I don't want to be tied to a apecific dealer. She was pretty non-committtal when I quizzed her on their "why go through a middleman?" marketing when this appeared to be exactly what she was offering. Hmmm..... proff
Just rang Warranty Direct, they said they couldn't cover a Boxster, I said I knew of others who had been covered recently, she said if I can get a reference number of someone who has been covered recently they would then be able to register mine too? Anyone got a recent reference number??
