Electronic repairs

I have recently had a flood in the passenger side of the car( the usual newbie problem of not knowing the stuff about the boxster drains) and fired the immobiliser box.

After searching on the net I sent my black box-immobiliser off to company for testing and (possible) repair.

Does anyone here have any experience/dealings with a company called Autotronics in Leicestershire ?  Their communications with customers definitely leaves something to be desired.

Thanks

They claimed to be able to "save" and repair the fried immobiliser board but after a txt telling me my board and keys had arrived it went silent and I had to do the chasing. eventually after a week they txted me to ask me to call them to make payment so they could send the board back to me. They informed me that the board had water damage ! ( No s**t Sherlock !  as I had explained the scenario that led to the problem  that must have taken quite a lot of detective work.) but said they had repaired it and it should work ok.but to call them if it doesn't work when I try it on the car and I will have to source a new Immobiliser board and send them both to them for reprogramming . kerching !   £140 !

I put it on the car and .................Nothing , all the same symptoms , plus a couple of new ones.

Not bad work if you can get it - £140 to tell me what I already knew.

I decided not to bother with those jackass guys and having researched and researched myself silly while waiting for them to repair my immobiliser I decided the two options were:

1. to source a DME , Immobiliser, and Key head  from a breaker/specialist.

2. Get the immobile vehicle recovered to a specialist 30 miles away.

Went with first choice and found exactly what I needed via ebay - a key head,DME and immobiliser all from the same vehicle  ( thus avoiding cost of transporting the vehicle to get it all reprogrammed.). Installed the blade from the original key into the "new" head, installed the immobiliser and the DME in the car and .......click - doors working , and car started on first try , I left it for the required time to allow it to stabilise all the settings and hey presto !.

The time the car sat like a very pretty paperweight immobile outside my house was not entirely wasted. I learned about and tested the fuses , relays , & got to understand a lot more about auto electronics .

Thanks to everyone on the many forums such as this one  for helping me understand stuff about these cars and get me through this "baptism of fire" (or should I say water ? ).

If anyone has this problem in future you are welcome to send me your alarm module and a donor unit of same type and I will transfer the data to donor unit for a plug and play module. I usually charge £100 plus post for this but would do it for postage costs only for anyone on this forum with a picture of log book/ Reg doc showing VIN/Chassis and owner. It's the type of stuff I do daily...  https://www.facebook.com/autolocky/
