Who’s got a high mileage Boxster

My last Boxster S, 2003 53 car. Owned it for 3.5 years from 68k miles to 106k miles. Not exactly high miles (average of 10k ish per year) in the real world. Used it as a daily/roadtrip car. It was sensational. Only fault in that time was a flat battery which required replacement. Aside from that just routine servicing, brake pads, tyres and handbrake shoes...oh and two taillight bulbs..I did pay slightly above average price for it to get a good one. It was like a wood burning stove during my ownership.

120k. Only thing to date to stop it was a faulty fuel pump. Read my running report as nearly everything else is replaced before it breaks.

126k here...owned previously by employee of OPC so we’ll looked after previously. I’ve owned since June and used it as a daily driver (adding approx. 7k miles to the total) to whilst working overseas in Brussels...apart from a service and new AC condensers it hadn’t really needed much spent until the MOT this week...needed 2 new front brake pads and a new track rod arm (bloody Brussels cobbles)....I was  recommended new tyres before taking it in  by my local specialist so added those too. Had a advisory on ‘slight brake pipe corrosion’ that I’ll have sorted when it’s back in the UK .

Driving new cars that have been under warranty and kit neededing an MOT has spoilt me, but whilst no bill is a welcome bill I don’t suppose <£1500 is bad for a 11year old Porsche...especially as 1/2 of that was tyres!

The notorious Baron here, 190,000, changed most things apart from engine, gearbox and clutch all original as is the IMS etc.

it drives like a new car, very tight with no rattles, but I have spent a fortune on a complete suspension refresh.

130,000 on mine. Got it for a song, £2850 inc hard top. Spent about £1600 since on suspension, front tyres, coolant pump and coolant, replacement of plastic window,  aos, 6x coils and plugs, discs and pads all round. love the car and enjoy every minute in it!

200850 - I’ve had the car since August. Came with fresh set of Pirelli pzeros, brake discs/pads and full service. Stacks of paperwork on things done to date (I will share a pdf one day very soon).

My gear-link rod popped off last month. (Replacement part and fitting £120).

My driver side window regulator went day before yesterday. (Replaced today with OEM part for ca. £300).

Not looking back. It was practically a gift, and I love it! Great drive and hugely admired. esp. When people find out how many miles it’s done.

;)

feels and sounds like a car half her age and usage.. but creaks over speed bumps suggest ball joints are not long for this world... happy however to be refreshing running gear and not engine stuff...

She'll be going strong for another 162,000 miles I'm sure, although possibly not in your ownership :)

Loz, you need to change your Ride ;)

My first jump into Porsche and boxster.

Bought it from Loz at 145000, love it. My mechanic does too.

Heres to lots more going on the clock.

It just occurred to me I've driven a car from each of the last 9 decades. The 914 was the most fun (partly because I was young) but the 986 was so much more reliable and useful and still loads of fun. Absolute best by the numbers, no. But for the dollars then or the dollars today, an absolute jewel. I drove probably 10 sample roadsters of the era before I even considered a Boxster and my first Boxster drive lasted only about a mile before I knew it was right for me. Top down out, top down back and then begin negotiating. Bought the first one I was ever in. I'm not sure I was even conscious of the Boxster as being a candidate before I stumbled upon an ad for one.
