I have the basic stereo too, but I do have the front+rear parking sensors, and I get a nice picure of the car with visual indications of the proximity to solid objects nearby each corner of the car. A do-it-all double-din head unit with bluetooth, great stereo etc. would be a great upgrade, but this parking feature would be deleted effectively. You'd still get the audible beep though when maneuvering. Are there any other options which rely on the standard display unit that would be compromised with this approach? Patt Posted June 7, 2018 Report Share Posted June 7, 2018 I've fitted a few to 986s pre canbus, including trying one in Molly. I couldn't get on with the flaky sat nag. I like the integration of the 981 into the main right side dash dial, especially for the sat nag, parking and phone features. Sure Appleplay is better, but not at the cost of losing them.
