Toyo sports exhaust

Looking at the Revolution option but deterred by the trip (from Portsmouth to Yorkshire & back) I opted for the E Bay Toyo sports exhaust for around £140.00. looked at the reviews & the E Bay fitting instructions & seemed simple enough for a mechanic with some knowledge of exhaust systems.

It arrived quickly & well packaged. This where the problems began. Not one mechanic, Exhaust specialist would touch it. Quotes I did get where for 4-6 hours labour plus parts from back street one man shops as it comes without any clamps or fixings. I finally 'bribed' my indie to do it after months of searching for 4 hours at £65 ph + VAT.

It looks good but sounds like a sonic boom everytime I accelerate. I've been all around the Portsmouth area looking for some who could fabricate a s/s bypass to get the car to sound more sporty & less like HMS Lizzie leaving Portsmouth Dockyards but with no luck.

I've kept the old back box & may have to bite the bullet & book in with Revolution when funds permit.  DO NOT BUY THIS EXHAUST- it's pants unless you're looking for a loud, droney noise.

Any one out there with any ideas !

If it's way too loud now the manifolds will quieten down and make the tone nicer. By the sounds of it it won't be enough for you. Have a read of my blue Boxster member ride thread. I started with the Toyosport then added the manifolds. Next 986 I went manifolds and 100 cell cats, then later added the Carnewal. Now back to manifolds standard cats and Carnewal. Soon to be manifolds, 200 cell cats and Carnewal.

Hi Alan

I use Andy Windsor of AW Motorsport near Chichester (Southbourne via the B roads)

He is very busy probably due to the quality of his work. I had to book in months in advance but glad I did

i'm hoping it calms down & I get used to it. Sounds better outside the car than in...........

Try the heat wrap. £10 roll will do both mufflers and the joints to the cat. It does make a considerable difference. I had headaches after driving before... Enjoy the car again now.

Just taken my Toyo exhaust off and put back to standard, wish i had tried the 'wrap' fix first now. The Toyo was much easier to remove than fitting the standard back as i didn't remove the bumper just had 4 hands and very long fingers.

The Toyo is on ebay now, didn't put a link as wasn't sure about advertising

Hi Paul

I feel for you. Out of interest how long did you have it on for ? I will try the wrap & s/s ties & see how it goes.. In certain conditions it sounds great but the drone is a problem & has to be mitigated to some degree or I'm back to stock too.

Feel sorry for you dudes ? but reading this thread in a bar had me in stitches ??. I WAS thinking of fitting the same.....not now!  I remember riding an Aprilia Dorsoduro with aftermarket Arrows and no baffles I swear my head vibrated inside the helmet! I heard that pardon? I don’t go anywhere on the bike now without ear plugs and it would’ve ended up the same with the car (Porsche branded ones ?).

Well Clive if a few of us have taken one for the team then there is an upside

Interestingly your specs are exactly the same as mine, including the wheels - spooky

The Aprilla RS250 Chesterfield was an animal I used to own until the ZXR400RR came calling - peak power at 15,000 revs
