Chukkieegg
No can't see much soot but while getting a mcds for daughter on Sunday sitting in drive through there was smoke rising from the back and see white smoke a few times over last week or so when car is still cold plus I have noticed the bellows on the aos appear to be leaking and I am just putting 2 and 2 together When it started running rough on Friday had been idling for a few minutes due to traffic down to one lane And it seems strange that Tickover was OK tonight

½cwt
White smoke or blue/white smoke? First is water vapour condensing from normal combustion if the air is cool, the other is oil smoke....

Lee put a genuine Bosh Lamda sensor on mine and its now going like a dream. Really sorry to hear your still have issues, but if replacing further parts, my advice would be pay the extra and buy genuine. Good luck
Chukkieegg
Well it was bosch paid about £65 from memory I was told old sensor was good by exhaust place that changed cat but its stuck in a piece of the cat as it was seized and got no idea how to get it out

the baron
I wasn’t with the car when it was being done but I’m pretty sure it was on the right
the baron
What indi are you using, if they have a proper diagnostic tool it should have flagged the lamda as a fault if that’s the issue, it was very obvious when I was shown the screen what the faults were

Only cost me £20, so might even be worth buying to have a look before taking a day off work.

I bought this one as it was immediately available at ECP for £20 when I needed it. I remember reading something about some dongles not working as well, but can't remember why now. I'm sure if you google it there will be lots of info about what works. Car Scanner is the app from the Apple App Store, other free apps are available and may be better/worse. 972.5boxster
Have just been reading through this tread trying to diagnose my 986 2.5 which developed the same codes: - Random misfire (P0300), P0304, 5, 6. Lumpy idle, revs dipping etc. Started after it had sat for a month or 2. I remembered the last thing I did before putting it away was stripping and cleaning the starter. To get at that I needed to remove the connector piece that goes between the 2 intake manifolds. It is secured on each side using rubber rings with jubilee clips. Anyway, on the near side one there is a little nipple which should have a vacuum line inserted into it. I had obviously removed this or knocked it out (just push fit). Whilst sprayed carb cleaner round the engine noticed it was sucking in. Put my finger over it and the idle stabilised. Popped the little vac pipe in and is now running well. Chukkieegg
Is 20 a blanking plug/grommet? Had headers replaced last Monday runs loads better but lumpy Tickover is back so will check grommet when I get back from few days away
972.5boxster
On mine it definitely isnt blanking, it was sucking in a huge amount of air. I then saw a thin tube that wasn’t connected to anything and plugged it in. Snug fit. On the picture 20 looks like a plug but I think it may be a reducer insert for the pipe to fit. I have just buttoned mine all up again other wise I would take a photo so show what I mean. I will try and get some time tomorrow.

972.5boxster
Hmm, mines a manual. Its my first boxster and not had it long. Possible it is a replacement engine from a tip I suppose. Just odd that a little pipe was dangling there just the same size like it was meant to be.
