What do I need to fit a double DIN stereo?

Hi,

I've been looking on here and on Pistonheads to see what components I'd need to fit a Double DIN stereo with Apple CarPlay to my 2004 Boxster S but I'm getting mixed messages on what I'd actually need.  My car has the original CDR-23 with a 4 CD changer, an Amp in the front boot with a fibre optic cable, but I don't have BOSE installed.  I'm happy with the existing speakers and the sound is great, it's just that when I use my bluetooth FM transmitter and my iPhone I sometimes get static, plus I don't like having my phone in a cradle and the FM transmitter plugged into the cigarette lighter as it all looks a bit messy and cheap.

So if somebody could say, right you need 1 of these, 2 of these, 1 of these etc etc then that would be great.

This should help

Incidentally, I have a brand new Android double din unit that I never fitted. PM me if you are interested.  I think Geraint? did a detailed review of these units and how you can Porsche custom them etc..

Thanks @Russjmills for the link.  Just had a look at that link but the AMP adapter is for amps without Fibre Optic  connections.

i think you can get adapters for the fibre optic amps but apparently the ones on eBay are a bit dodgy.

Incartec are good folks l. They know their stuff and the kit they sell is good quality.

Used them in the past for previous cars and they would be my goto for adapters etc.  They supplied a canbus adapter for an Audi for 60 quid where local car audio specialist said “about 800 quid mate, or I can chop the wires and solder a connection in for the the ignition on and lights wiring “

they will have fibre and non fibre adapters. Give them a call and they will talk you you through the options.
