deanmr2 Posted October 29, 2021 Report Share Posted October 29, 2021 Hi all, just watched a few videos about fitting a direct oil feed to the IMS bearing, it comes as a kit for about £500. Basically as long as you’re original bearing is in good condition you just leave it in place and remove the black bearing cover then fit the kit which gives a permanent and constant oil feed directly into your bearing. This means you do not need any special tools to lock the engine and all the faff that goes with actually replacing the bearing. I think this is a great idea and could be done as a DIY job. Also, when removing the IMSB flange, it is imperative to lock the engine as if this is not done correctly, the chain can jump time. The likes of Hartech and probably other advocate an even simpler removal of the outer seal instead, assuming all else checks out ok. It's one of those catch 22 situations though as it's hard it not impossible to inspect the bearing in situ and if it's out you have to put another one in anyway. Paul Hi Paul, going by the videos that I watched they remove the 3 bolts that hold the ims bearing cover in place, 1 at a time and replace them with long set screws which are screwed in till they bottom and this holds the intermediate shaft and chains in place so no need for special tools to lock the engine Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
