Quick question - battery/alarm

Don't think the 987 has a battery backed alarm siren so you should be fine - the workshop "page" for battery removal says :

Switch off all loads and remove the ignition key.

Do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running. Disconnect and reconnect battery with extreme caution. Do not rub the battery with a dry cloth.

First disconnect the negative then the positive leads from the battery.

If you disconnect the battery while the key is in the ignition ( and you aren't going to be reconnecting it straight away ) - then the key won't release - you have to use the little "hook" in the lid of the fusebox.

There's also some post reconnection stuff ( like resetting the top/bottom positions on the windows, and clearing the PSM warning ) - and if you are going to leave the battery off for a long time there's the risk that the car might go into transit mode and forget things like heated seats and interior lights and other odd things ( that needs a handover rest from a porsche PIWIS unit to sort out)
