deanmr2
Hi all Changing my rear discs and pads on my 2002 Boxster S can anybody tell me if the anti vibration shims can be re-used even though the adhesive that sticks them to the pads is gone after I removed them from the old pads or are they even needed? New shims will cost nearly as much as I paid for the new discs and pads
986T8
Leave them off and drive it. If it makes noise, try reusing them (but I think the adhesive is necessary). If you still don’t like it, buy the shims. Brake squeal has nothing to do with the quality of the brakes.
T911UK
If you do use them they need to be firmly stuck to the back of the pad or they are pointless. Clean them up and use some decent double sided tape like 3M or Gorilla. As long as all the calipers are nice and clean I would try without them as 986T8 says
bally4563
Just remove them and apply some Copa slip
