986 Won't turn over / won't start / Terminal 86 not detected

Had this issue on our 2000 986. Was getting ignition lights and cluster working okay, roof not working, radio not working, no voltage at fuse E1, engine wouldn't turn over, non starter, nothing. Was freaking out thinking the ALM/IMM ECU was kaput. Turned out to be a faulty ignition starter switch. Replaced that and all was well the car starts, the roof and radio work once more.

Moar! https://www.renntech.org/topic/8818-fuse-f-51-location-no-terminal-86-s-recognized/

The ignition switch can cause all sorts of weird stuff when it starts misbehaving.  Fairly easy to change; look up the  topic in the How To section..
