Triops
Creaking rattle noise over bumps. Very slowly it’s got worse over a couple of years, Can stop it by pushing up on the steering wheel. Can get the noise stationary by pushing up and pulling down on the steering wheel. The rack feels ok when driving and it’s just had an mot. It’s not related to turning the steering wheel. Does it going in a straight line . Anyone had this?
Triops
Just spent £250 trying to get local Porsche Indy’s to sort it. They can’t find it either and never met a problem like this before. It can be replicated with the car stationary. Pushing the steering wheel about does it, but steering column good, no play at all and it drives perfectly. Probably just live with it! Don’t hear it when I’m driving enthusiastically. If anyone has ever had anything like this… help! Edited August 17, 2023 by Triops
bally4563
Where the steering column goes through to join the rack , the spline has a nylon/plastic bush, wonder if this has Brocken up?
Triops
Problem is there is absolutely no play in the rack. Going to cost an arm an a leg to pull front end apart, so going to have to live with it I suspect. Will post if I ever sort it.
ATM
Could it be internal so steering column, lock mechanism, dashboard parts or part of the car which hold steering wheel in position?
