Ballybrace fitted to 987.2s PDK

Hi,

Just a quick note for future reference if anyone fits a rear subframe strut bar aka "ballybrace" / "pedrobrace".. Rennlist do one too but it's 4x the price of Micks..

I run a stiff setup using KW V3's..

For comparison the 987 Spyder has spring rates of FR 30Nm/mm & RR 43Nm/mm, the KW is 40Nm/mm and 90Nm/mm respectively. Compression is set very slightly too stiff, it needs a click backing off each end..

Anyway.. the brace.. has made a heck of a difference. With a stiff setup the springs/compression are putting a significant load through the chassis and this results in a lot of scuttle shake/chatter. After fitting the brace, there's no scuttle shake. I can feel what's going on from the rear - I can feel the rear is planted and the suspension is doing what it's supposed to. It feels a lot more solid. To be fair, I don't drive this car conservatively, it gets pushed and I reckon if you do the same, you'll notice a large improvement in behaviour from the rear..

So a big thanks to @bally4563 for machining the part and fitting - it's helped massively.

Rob, I didn’t expect it would be immediately a dramatic improvement , perhaps need to sell them to some of these suspension specialists, not sure if you can think of any 😂😂
