This is a very nice video with one major problem in my opinion at 13min 24sec. You cannot just pull it off at the front there is one torx screw that needs removing which cannot be accessed without removing the washer bottle, there is also a plastic fastener at the front which needs the central pin removed. A bit fiddly but no big issue. To do what was suggested however is not possible unless somebody had removed them previously.

I have a picture but I don't know how to upload it as I have just done this job and took a few pictures so I knew how to put it back together.

    Cheers

    Graham

    Hi Graham.

I did this job yesterday and thought exactly the same as you and did take the nearest plastic pin out, I did see the other torx screw further back as you say behind the water bottle but I didn't remove it, (did exactly as per the video) it did come off but I must admit I thought I was pushing my luck a bit with the amount of force I used no need to remove the torx screws or the plastic pin, glad to say it all went back easy enough as per the video, here is the link to my post, didn't put this on here as it is for all Boxster's not just a 981.

when I first come on this forum they never had so many variants in different sections so you never missed anything like this, I said this would happen when they changed it.

Hi @Daboy3000 it's just as much a pain in the ass to dismantle the top end to gain access to one of the drain holes, here's that video.

Hi Simo @Simo_UK your right "over engineered" having said that I did put mine back on, now I know the lay out I will keep them clear of derby.

  4. Hi Welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry I can't help you with any local advice on buying a Boxster I bought my first 2 down London, they are 2 a penny down there not so in South Wales, don't be put off by distance and traverling for the right one.

  5. My back yard, I will have to organise a drive around some areas off the beaten track, the last time organised a drive out it was for a MG group I was in at the time, it was like going on a Welsh safari with all the animals we came across on the mountain roads.

Wow @Guvs you don't want to pop out and get a new one? That's 10 years old. You will soon anyway, and changing now will avoid the hassle of you being stranded somewhere.

If not, is your locking wheel nut key outside the frunk :D

    Good point.

Not using the start/stop now so shouldn't drain the battery so much 😃 worked that one out about the locking nut years ago when I had the 986 👍 I hardly ever use the Boxster now I've got the Plug in Hybrid.

  7. My stop/start in the cold weather never works, I put it down to the state of the battery I think mine is on it's last legs now anyway, (2012) on short trips it never works but as soon as I go on a nice long run it works fine, as said above I'm not to worried about this function other than it drops the cost of your road tax some.

Bought this new in 2018, 12,000 miles and hasn’t missed a beat. I was always told Italian bikes were unreliable.

Is that photo taken in Abergavenny bus station ?

Nice bike by the way Skin 👍

  9. You can get good Boxster's and you can get a bad Boxster same for the MG TF, as a comparison of one to the other they are in different leagues, Porsche Boxster Premiership, Rover MG TF league division 2, having said that I loved my MG TF's same layout as a Boxster just a smaller size all round, Mid engine rear, wheel drive, front and rear boots, similar to my 986 (if you leave the spare wheel out) cabin layout very similar, smaller engine, (but hasn't got to carry as much weigh as a Boxster) bit like a gambow with the suspension, similar to my 987 when you switch on the PASM, all in all it's a good little 2 seater fun car as soon as you've sorted the HGF out (that comes in around the 38k mark) I had one in 2008 then got converted to a 986, then I got a 987, and now a 981, but I always loved the MG TF and had to get another one in 2020, I just sold it and made money on it, not much I hasten to add but a lot more than I paid for it and I was sorry to see it go.

Sorry Guvs, my notifications are turned off, got so many apps connected on my phone would be going off all the time...

I called Chris, he's priced up the flywheel/clutch, but hasn't got back to me with a price / date for when he can fit me in.

We had a good chat, Chris has got 5 in the workshop and 5 waiting, mine can wait as it's only a weekender. I can get both in carpartsforless for £570, 20% discount at the mo, (Sachs clutch, luk dmf). Amazingly, euro car parts are about £200 more for the same stuff (exactly the same websites...).

Chris has noted that the judder could be other things, knows his stuff and once he gets back with a quote, I'd be happy for the job to be done with him, I'm confident he'll sort it.

I've called a garage over in raglan, they've quoted me £1000.00 labour. Just wanted to get a comparison.

    Hi Charlie.

Any luck yet ? I hope Chris has got back to you by now, if not he wont mind you reminding him and sometimes you have to as I have done in the past.

  12. Hi @Ringmaster999 I was lucky got mine fitted as part of the deal on the sale from Cardiff OPC no price hack,

I didn't realise this.  "Note- PSE in quiet mode is still louder than the standard exhaust." just read that in one of the previous posts I've always thought it sounds lovely even when switched off, I had to have switchable working shifts leaving my house at 04:40 in the small streets in the Valleys didn't half echo off the houses on each side, I work in Cardiff Bay, down by the Cardiff White water complex, I'm working all through the lock downs pop in for a coffee if your ever passing this area. social distancing as ordered obviously.

Nice one Steve, and I don't blame you! I bet it's a great bike to ride.

Last of the nice sounding Panigale's before the EU got involved and put a stop to them, rode it back from London yesterday (4hrs) and only one quick coffee stop no aches and pains anywhere, there was one pain in my wrist, on a 20 mile strech of the M4 50mph hand stuck in one position for about 20 minutes.

    Love it 👌👍
