Wow, you even had the wind deflector painted.  Look forward to seeing it together.

I posted some photos in the Running Report section but here's a taste for others that haven't looked there.

  2. Did this to the Boxster yesterday.

    2020-05-31_05-28-492020-05-31_05-29-34

All the parts are now with my mate that has done all the paint jobs on my other Boxsters in the past.

Decided to have the front of the hoops done as well as the back, also the plastic part where the seat belt disappears, it makes a nice continuous white line from the front of the hoops down to it.

Photos to follow when done and thanks to @T24RES for the how to 👍

started up the car, let it warm through. moved it forwards & backwards to check nothings seized.  put the cover back over

What's stopping you taking it for a quick spin, far better than ticking over on the drive, get the rust off the inner side of the brake discs for one.

  4. Very Good job, I would do that Mod if I had a 98I as well.

I got this piece of perspex done to make a wind breaker for my MG once it had a tint of Green in it and it look oem for the colour of the MG, I thought it looked smart.

Not really a help as I'm trying to pick up the sidelight rather than the fog.

I see what you mean, is it just your side lights come on when you have your light switch in the "get you home position" (ie 12oclock) ? thinking about it that's not going to help much as it's the fog lights that come on in the "get you home mode" on my Gen 1 with my aftermarket LED ones, not the side light, I will have to check when it gets dark if the side lights comes on as well as the fog lights, as you only notice the fog lights as they are so bright and they would hide the side lights.

Looking forward to seeing them fitted, they will look very modern and if you'r like me I can't decide what setting to have them on !! you'll know what I mean when you get them fitted.

  7. Just for you FH (  @fat haggis  ) this is a conversation I had with someone else on here about them.

"I spoke to him about doing a deal for Boxster.net members and he will do them for £115 all in P&P, no tax, no waiting, the other ones I've seen were from Taiwan and I got caught for £38 duty on my rear lights coming into the country, so it is a good deal if you really wont them.

His name is Jonathan number is 07779622635 just tell him your off BoXa.net or mention me (Guvs) he only holds a small stock of expensive items."                                   Guvs.

Ok, I got a reply from the seller as follows...

Just in the switch, it's side lights for the thin bar (good at night on its own), but for the DRL, pull switch out one click into front fog mode. Looks stunning.

So in standard guise they are not really DRL's as the only way to have them on in the daytime is to have the sidelight on and fog light setting out. However, I am sure I am right in thinking that if you combime these with the diode mod they should work with the switch in the home setting?

    Looking at you @Guvs lol

I have the contact number of a good UK supplier somewhere fair discount for BoXa.net members, and no hassle with duties i'll try and dig it out later if anyone wants it.

Just did this mod in about 10 mins.....I too was worried about getting the ignition barrel out as I'm a bit heavy handed but it came out easy...No force is required.

thank you to Guvs for pointing to this thread and also the note about not forcing it.

i do have a question re MOT tough

ive brought these lights, again big thank you to Guvs...he is like my Porche fairy godmother ?, as he put me in Touch with the guy direct and I saved some pennies...

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-2008-PORSCHE-BOXSTER-S-987-Gen-1-SMD-LED-DRL-Daytime-Running-Lights-UK-/271483022587?hash=item3f35a62cfb:g:5jsAAOxyXzxTGtkr

but...the mod works...and the upper section of the light is on in the "Home" position.

the upper LED's go off when the main beam lights are on..but the lower lesser powered section or bar is on too.

would this be an MOT failure as aren't there only supposed to be one main light on at night ?

The bottoms less bright ones are "Side Lights" and as in normal cars they stay on anyway when you put your head lights on, and DRL go off when you put head lights on anyway, no problems whatsoever and if you don’t want your DRL on just turn the switch to the off position instead of at the 12oclock (home) position.

Nice to know you done the hack with no dramas, and glad I was of some help.

Just a photo for a comparison, this is a 987 rear diffuser and it is molded into the bumper so it's a complete bumper change.

  12. OK I am a donkey!!

Done it ............push in rotate switch and pull our switch. I was expecting the whole unit to rotate to release.

    No force required at all

I know I did exactly the same as you, I even went as far as to get my son over for him to have a go, and as sweet as a nut it came out first time for him and he just looked at me as if to say "you donkey" after he showed me it was easy peasy, I too was expecting it to be harder than it was.
