What are your thoughts on the JoyeAuto thing? I want something that gives me CarPlay but preferably keeps the PCM info, am I right in thinking this is the only option out there?
I like it (quite a lot). The updated user interface does modernise the interior, and I probably wouldn't do without it now.
It's a hassle to install, and it has it's quirks (hopefully sorted by the new software), and I don't know of anything else which does the same thing keeping the PCM in situ.
With the CarPlay retrofit for 993/996 offerings from Porsche I can't help but wonder if they won't do one for 981/991 soon though - but that said, it'll cost a fortune I'm sure.

Also did a software update on the JoyeAuto CarPlay adapter thingymabob. Seems to work a bit better now. How to do it in the ICE section
-
In for an oil change to local Indy. Needed brake fluid too as was 2 years since last change, so took the opportunity to replace the corroded brake lines too (advisory from last MOT). All in ship shape now.

I got one from eBay for £55 last year which is great and I definitely prefer the visibility through it vs the mesh one. Seller doesn't seem to have them anymore, but there is an alternative here though

Not the same one I got so can't comment on the quality, but maybe worth a try

@Withy..Thought I'd let you know, my OPC has been in touch and my car is now being built on 23 October, and should be available to pick up 12-15 November which is before the previous date given for building the car! Apparently they are keen to get UK cars built and shipped!
Good to know. that's a good turnaround for your car.

Nice one...you will love driving it! I'm swopping my current GTS in for a new GTS, to be built in November and due in December. I was going to get one next April when my car is three years old but I didn't want to take the chance of tariffs after the end of the year. I've gone a bit more mad than you with the configurator; Porsche code PMQTTQ37.
This will be my third Macan. I had my name down for the EV version due in 2022 but decided I'm not yet ready for an EV as a daily driver.
That’s an awesome Spec. 😎

Locked and loaded!
Macan GTS
Night Blue Metallic
20” Turbo Alloys
Black Leather package (not alcantara, and Mojave didn’t do it for us after looking at a Cayenne at OPC Glasgow)
Pano Roof
Sport Chrono
75lt tank
drivers memory pack
heatable windscreen
heated steering wheel (front seat heating is std)
Privacy Glass
park assist with reversing camera
Whoop! -
After some coffee and advice from y’all and others.. this is the current thinking from original spec
Add
Mojave leather £161
Reversing camera £362
75lt tank £84
Sport Chrono £804
Remove
Driver memory pack £228
Compass £261
Difference - £922
Heading to OPC for Mojave decision..

That’s a new think to me as mine was purchased used from an OPC
The ticky box option for heated seats is still there though 🧐
Yep, it’s a model year change that heated seats are included. Configurator maybe not upto date, but you can see it in the standard spec section for GTS
-
75 lt tank is a good call
Air suspension is a tad costly, abs it seems the motoring journalists reckon the revised Macan on steel springs with PASM is excellent. The demo we drove was certainly awesome from an overall ride / composure pov
-
Heated seats are standard now. Wouldn’t do without them!
compass is more for the look of sport chrono without the cost.
good suggestions all round. Going back to OPc today to see a Cayenne with Mojave to make the decision.
I like the clean lines of no roof bars, but then like the look with them too, so that is a toughie.
Drivers memory pack was left on by mistake, only noticed after the figures came back! May drop that and compass and go sport chrono.. but as Nick Murray says, you really don’t need that on a Macan

So I've been thinking about changing our BMW M140i for a while, and always end up looking at Macan's. After some advice from @Davidbf1.com and some others, we were between Diesel S, a few 2016ish Turbos, an OPC 2017 GTS, but with man maths taking over completely, we placed a deposit yesterday on a new GTS spec is here. Delivery is December
The main thing is the actual car, and we've not gone mad with options to try to keep the costs down.
Advice on interior is what I'm after. Black is the safe option, but the Mojave leather against a Night Blue car is what we are now leaning towards. Spec needs to be locked today! Quick opinions and thoughts very welcome.
Oh, and the 981 S remains intact

Oh ya and put it up for sale
Oh dear.. what you got your eye on? some other Pork?

MOT'd it. All good apart from advisories for corroded brake hoses/pipes (all of them). Is there any advantage of replacing with something like this https://www.goodridge.co.uk/products/car-brake-kit-for-porsche-boxster-981-718-2012-up?variant=12844776325185 or are OEM ones fine?

Excellent Withy, great write up too. I've been retrofitting over the winter, i've managed to retrofit heated seats, essentially some new seats, wiring from the HVAC control unit and some coding.
Nice @daz05 if only I could retrofit Sport Chrono, PASM and PSE. 🤪
Driving @Andrew bell’s 911S with Sport Chrono was awesome. The PDK difference is significant (really ferocious and hanging onto gears compared to my non SC equipped 981S in Sport mode) Or maybe the 400bhp had something to do with it!
So if you fitted new Heated seats does that mean you have 2 non heated ones spare? I always wanted to convert one for my office

Well done, looks like a good value kit too. Was it difficult?
Yeah, it was quite difficult. Needs a lot of patience, but probably worth it in the end

Added Apple CarPlay to my PCM 3.1. Was a bit of a chore, but results good so far. See this
-
Covered it (with one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-981-Boxster-Cayman-Stormforce-Outdoor-Car-Cover-Fitted/322888626943 )
-
Not actually something I did to the car, more for it.....Ordered a Stormforce car cover after my own drain hole grief and tales of woe from @Stuart21UK and others.
-
Finally got my front wheels balanced. Have had a vibration from 70mph ish... completely gone now. I wish I'd spent £12 sooner! Smooth as silk now
Incoming Macan...

Picked it up about 5 hours ago.. in the rain unfortunately, so photo's are cr@p. Took the car for a wee run of about 80 miles, and it is actually amazing - feels nimble and rapid. Sounds great, and when in Normal mode it's a supreme cruiser. In car tech is a huge step up from 981.. Very happy with colour choice.. I think Night Blue is a bit rare and looks great with these wheels. I've ordered some of that Graphene wax for it (hope the rain disappears to let me use it) More to come on this for sure.
