I'm blissfully ignorant on this subject but I'm quietly plotting to take my car to CG at some point after getting new tyres. I won't know what to tell them but I'll be happy to pay for their expertise. I'll never get near the limits of the car's handling, I'm sure. But if the set up is optimised, I'll have the best chance of recovery from random events. I also find it interesting to learn from the wizards.

My experience with them is that they ask you what you want from the geo, fast road, occasional track, full on track etc. They then drive your car, with you in the passenger seat, and describe what they see and what they can do. They then go back and undertake the geo. Therefore it's probably best you have an idea of what you want out of the work, if you can. They are extremely helpful, and knowledgeable, so just chat to them.

I paid 350 back in March so can concur @r1flyguy. Honestly it's worth the money and in hindsight it'll be far better to have 1 cg alignment than 3 random garages trying to get it right... Ask me how I know 😉

Totally agree, I've had 4 of my cars set up by them and my current 'new car' is due to be set up by them in September. Great people and very knowledgeable

Sucked 3 inches of water out of the passenger floor and carpet.

Seems a drain hole must have got blocked recently and last weeks storm filled up the rear compartment before then filling up the computers under the seat.  First I knew was the parking sensors started packing up and the display had a red attention sign, first the fronts, then the rears the next day.

I've spent the last three days , in between the rain, trying my best to get it all dry.

I've got lucky and apart from an airbag light, all is working again.

I've plugged in my Durametric and restet the fault code...will see if that holds, but it's due in for a service ain a couple of weeks so the Revolution boys can give it a full scan.

Bad new Patt and at a time you could really do without this! Hope it goes ok. See you soon

    Exactly John!

Within the last 3 weeks, two long time friends, both in their early fifties have suffered heart attacks. One a Quadrathlon athlete; known as, "the fittest man in his town" and the other, again a super fit,top player at my local badminton club.

    Says it all Neil....

Will do John, the chap I deal with has Thursdays off, so I’m going to ring  him tomorrow and make an appointment.

Hope it goes as you want Martyn. The guy I deal with rang today and said my car had been built and was on its way to the docks! I’m getting really excited now!!

Hardly nothing for sale at the moment and what is commands a high price.

The face lift will have touch screen controls which isnt going down well in other VAG group cars and the 992

It isnt being released until Autumn and quite a few have deposits down already or so the dealership has said.

Blimey Mike, WBAC text and have now offered even more for my car! As I've spec'd this one to exactly as I want I'm keeping it but as you infer the absence of cars is driving up prices.

Hi, the 12 months quoted is only what I’ve read online lately, I haven’t been told officially. For purely financial reasons, I need to wait until September ‘22!  (Unfortunately) 😞

There are strong rumours production of these cars may end before then Martyn but, of course, that is only rumours!

    Hi John,

Many thanks for your in depth and very helpful reply, quick question, do you happen to know whether the £1905 new car tax is incorporated in the Porsche configerator price? ie the price quoted is what you pay? I know it includes VAT but it doesn’t mention anything else.

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Martyn

Hi Martyn, its in addition to the configurator price.

  9. Hi Martyn, Its a great car I'm sure you will love it.

I've an order in for a GT4 with PDK  which hopefully will roll off the production line this Friday.

OPCs are different but the one I deal with, and have for the past decade, only takes deposits where they are confident the car will be built. As I understand it at present allocations of build slots are only confirmed on a quarter by quarter basis although the OPC is generally given an idea of what they might get from Porsche UK. If you look at the post 'Will they sell me a GT4?' on the Boxster/Cayman thread on Pistonheads you will get a good understanding of the experiences of a number of people trying to get new 4L cars

Production of new cars are affected by the world wide shortage of microchips and in the case of the 4L caysters there has been an additional problem that circa 1000 engines, on cars manufactured earlier this year, required to be replaced.

The 'on the road' cost is mainly the new rates based on the cost of the car and its emissions. For a 4L car with PDK, lower emmisons than a manual apparenly!, its a total of £1905.

Hope this helps and good  luck!

  10. I've had three Macans, a diesel and two GTSs, I've had the second one 6 months. I have driven the 2L one. If you are not concerned with the current chatter about diesel cars I'd go for the diesel ahead of the 2L. Its a nice car to drive with its of torque and can be driven fast. The 2L petrol one just, for me, feels less responsive. Have you thought about an S petrol?

Be outrageous. I gives us all something to talk about.

No fear! Anyway my spec is already locked down, gentian blue with black leather and race-tex interior with silver stitching! And satin platinum wheels.

When you splash the cash, you get to choose the colour scheme. Money doesn't always equate to taste. Some of the cars destined for the Middle East spring to mind.

Never has, never will! It's one of the reasons I like to buy new, and get the car I want. Although I hope the colours I choose are not outrageous!

I remember a US thread on 981 deliveries (new owners of) where some guy had an Aqua (or similar) Cayman with red interior...it looked really gash 🤢

Yes, sounds awful! I've seen a few odd exterior/interior colour combinations over the years and understand Porsche may require you, if you spec a car really oddly, to pay the full amount rather than a deposit before they build the car!
