Today's Task, fitted switch to raise and lower spoiler,  The light flashes when the spoiler raises , the light stays on constant when the spoiler is fully extracted

Having it flash when raising is a good idea but would drive me mad if it was on all the time when the spoiler was up.

Got the engine out today after 4 hours wrestling it. Not too difficult once the transmission was out (Removed yesterday). Just had to take is slow and constantly check everything was stable and we hadn't caught any cables.

Bloody hell and here's me thinking Im going to swap out my drivers side wing mirror this evening, so ambitious, maybe not 😂😂😂

Great job, what you doing to the engine, I presume a bit more that a a quick clean up

First time Bob, normally I use Motul fully synthetic ester oils on my 993, but the Millers Ester oils get good reviews so trying them for the first time.

I also fitted a Gold plug magnetic sump plug whilst in there. (Note stock image) the correct one is MP10

Finally got my from struts apart to change the springs, bump stops and top mounts having found a broken spring and noticed the bump stops were rather perished.  Top nut took a good impact wrench on the nut and mole grips on the piston rod but they finally gave in.  Top bearings were in good condition so cleaned them thoroughly and re-greased before reassembly.  Gave the front diagonal braces a good wire brushing and the 2 coats of Hammerite as well as brushing and painting the visible part of the dampers up to the spring platforms.  Also fitted new ARB bushed and a new track rod end  last weekend whilst I had things apart.

Now I can get on with the job I was planning before when I found the broken spring that led to all this work, which is painting the calipers and replacing a couple of brake lines.

Good man good to see you are getting stuck in, makes me jealous, Im running out of jobs to do on my car

    I sort of washed it.

Probably best not to wash the old girl as you will discover all sorts of nasties that you've not seen before, first time wash in 3yrs, your car is all about the hidden gems, in the engine and gearbox etc.😂🤣😂🤣

Good luck couldn't move mine with anything last week.  If no joy, drill through with 4.5mm then 5mm so as not to damage the threads and to only give  small amount of swarf left in the threads and run through with an M6 tap if you have on or a longer M6 bolt to clear the threads.  Replace with M6x12 or 16 countersunk of any head type and use assembly compound on the threads.  I had spares from a previous brake disc change on a VW Golf.  Arguably you only need one bolt as many manufacturers use, not two.

I had to drill mine too, real PITA

  8. Polished and waxed the car, looking splendid for 22yr old paint and cut the old number plate down to remove the Euro/GB flag, its a 5 character number plate so decided to chop the whole plate down at the front to fit the plinth, very happy with the results.

If anyone is looking to do the same, don't hacksaw, I tried this first further up the plate as a test, rough edges not good, best way to get a razor straight edge is to simply score the plate with a Stanley knife and snap it of, then file the edges to a curve.

Another unbelieavable DIY feat completed by me today...... Autoglym cleaned and proofed my hood 😂😂.

Looks ok but not sure if I have put enough on as I certainly have got more than enough to clean and proof again?

There is some white wax like residue left in places, should I just brush that off?

The most important thing when re proofing is to thoroughly scrub and clean the roof first, then when applying the rep roofer should make the job much easier. If youve got white spots just brush them in/out

Two bmw  X5s arrived at my scene. The first went sideways on the same river running over the road that I did. The other stopped all following traffic.

The officer’s first words were, “you don’t have to explain what happened here, Sir”

    they were very helpful.

    lol.
