Fitted the mesh into my newly titanium painted from grilles.  Bit of time detailing with tinsnips and shaping it tot eh profile of the grilles, then fixed with a hot glue gun.  Temporarily used cable ties to hold the mesh in place whilst gluing. Just need to get the front bumper off and painted and build it up with these in.

Why use a glue gun, what if you need to replace mesh at some point, I used screws which work perfectly as long as you screw into the thicker part of the surround.

Received two dehumidifying bags I had ordered.  I weighed them on arrival as they claimed to be 200g but felt heavier, were in fact approx. 245g so microwaved for 5 mins and put on a radiator to remove the condensed steam from the microwaving, reweighed at 220g.  So if you get some dry them before use.  Now in the car doing their stuff I hope.

    Good tip.

Agreed, I would love to cut out the engine cover an replace and replace it with clear Perspex and LEDs.

Something like similar to one fitted on a Cayman would be amazing.

That is pretty cool, bit wasted on the Boxster due to the roof though

Youve got no hope and Bob Hope and Bob’s just left town, 😂

When I was looking for the RTS I saw this advertised, it’s not complete and you will struggle to find the missing parts so I walked away.

i eventually found one on eBay in the summer that also came with the official Porsche bike racks to attach to the the RTS, I had been looking for around 4yrs, when they come up for sale sale you have to be really quick as they are like hens teeth and go straight away.

I use mine with the hardtop in place like @map as I have a red canvas roof and don’t want anything dripping onto that.

Good luck with search, if you do find one it will only add value to your car so not wasted money

I have been thinking for some time that the car wasn't as urgent as it should be and the idle was a little lumpy ... I took out the MAF to clean it and noticed that it was the old style 124.00 version.  This didn't seem right to me as my car is a MY02 and everywhere suggested that I should be using the 125.0x version.   So took a chance and bought the newer version, just installed it ... went for a quick run and the urgency and throttle response has improved and the idle is a lot smoother.

Always good when your assumptions are proved right, nice easy fix with instant results

Had the storage box out off the engine cover as the sliding door a bit sticky on one side.  Whilst roof was in service position did a run round with Gummi Pflege on all door, roof and boot seals.

Also went out for a run via local garden centre for some last minute gifts and took advantage of a Shell Go+ extra £1.50 off 30l of V power making it only 117.9/l.  Astonishingly the particular Shell forecourt I use still only has a 9p/l premium on V power.

Good old Gummi Pflege that's a life saver on the Hardtop, really does stop the creaking that can sometimes occur.

Washed and cleaned the Boxster. Took a nice lengthy drive around Southern Finland and placed the car in to hibernation for the winter.

Plan is to do some maintenance work to the Baxster during the winter.

This driving season covered 21701km (approx. 13484mi) and each of the km with this car smiling :)

Always good to get the pass - your wipers must be really bad if that was an advisory.  If they turn on and move across the screen is usually enough for most MOT places.

I got a fail last time out due to the passenger side water sprayer being to low down when it hit the screen to be effective, CPS corrected it but it was the same as before so can't understand this, absolute b*ll*cks in my opinion.

Dry day, bored at lunchtime, time for a flat six fix.  Amazed at how quite the car is with all the new suspension.  The new damping set up is certainly an improvement but without being able to back to back with the Bilstein B4 option it is difficult to be definitive.  It certainly gives a good ride and no nasty surprises in handling as you'd expect from a brand like Koni and the fact it is all quite ad fresh and stable it gives more confidence.  Found myself going 10mph faster than wise on occasions just because it is all so much quieter

Took it on some road surfaces that were dreadfully noisy in the past, now all you can hear is tyres bumping on the bad bits.  Makes the stereo sound better too!  Also got £1 off Shell V Power on last day of a voucher on the app.

Overall wow, wow, wow.  It is expensive but I recommend a suspension refresh on any 986 that is still on its original suspension.

    😀😀😀:thumbsup_still:

When you do these types of refresh projects is just makes you realise just how bad the old suspension was. Glad your out enjoying. I drove mine down to Dartmouth on Sunday, came back yesterday and my milometer finally clicked over to 210000, it now sits at 210120, been waiting for this event but was driving when it hit the milestone mileage so couldn't take a pic😢

Final Score - ½cwt 1, Suspension Project 0  It was a drawn out battle at times but we just dig in a chipped away at the opposition and finally eked out the victory.

All new parts now installed, torqued up and road tested.  Handbrake is now on one click.  No unwelcome knocks, graunching, scraping or other signs of an error, in fact the ride is near silent and all old squeaks, rattles vibration at speed and knocks are gone.  It is however in desperate need of a geo set up, definitely drifting right on a dual carriageway hands off when the camber or the road should take you left. I'm going to have to recalibrate my seat of the pants speedo or I'll be in 2 figures before I know it.  The ride for the Koni Special Active dampers is definitely different even detectable on a short test driver.  Smooth over high frequency small amplitude road imperfections but a bit stiffer on bigger deflections.  Hey ho, whether I like it or not I'm stuck with it now.  At the start I said (after Churchill) I have nothing to give but my blood toil sweat and tears.  Please to say it only required the toil and the sweat, not even one stripped knuckle which is very rare for me, I might be getting a bit better that this mechanicing lark.

A summary of new parts fitted:

    4 Koni Special Active Dampers

    4 coffin arms (Spyder performance)

    4 bump stops (after market)

4 ARB drop links (after market)

2 front top mounts (Sachs - OE)

2 front tuning forks - found one was bent (Spyder Performance)

2 new front springs - one was broken (Porsche)

2 rear toe links (Spyder Performance)

4 eccentric (camber) bolts on rear (Porsche)

1 track rod (TRW - OE)

So the only original parts left in the suspension are the front top bearings (stripped, cleaned and re-greased), the rear top mounts and the rear tuning forks.

Tools purchased - Makita Impact wrench (£123), Hot Rod Magnetic Induction Heater (£169), Erbauer reciprocating saw (£49), Bosch sabre saw blades (2 @ £13 each), wide mouth pickle fork ball joint splitter (£5.99)

Thanks to all who shared information @Halfordwill @Lennym1984 @bally4563 @iborguk to name a few, @Freddie for the new crested wheel centre and those that encouraged @John2000 @the baron apologies to anyone I've missed.

Oh, and the final pictures as with out those it didn't happen as we all know.

Well done, although I would advise maybe sticking a few wheel bolts on before you attempt to test and obvious school boy error, the wheel cap is not pointing at the valve, apart from that looks awesome, what's the next project 😂

After the geo, bring it on....!  Should almost be a new car with every thing but rear tuning forks, springs and top mounts new this year.  😀

I did mine about 4yrs ago, well Lee from CPS did it, complete suspension refresh including bilstein shocks etc, my car came with the MO30 suspension from new. So felt awesome after nearly 20yrs a of hard use,you will be shocked at the difference

Reach full-time on target for once.  The damper put up a bit of fight first time (not helped by me no aligning the marks I made for this very reason on the top mount with the fixings on the damper tube) but after taking it out and fettling the upright casting a bit more it went in easily.  All the bolts on one side are back in even the brake shield and disc are lose fitted, just need torqueing up but I wasn't going to do that in the dark.  I'll do the torqueing on both sides at the same time ding the bolts that have the same setting methodically on each setting. I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Learned a lot and in a strange way have enjoyed it as it hasn't beaten me.

If all goes well I might even be able to do a short test drive even thought the geometry will be all over the place.

You must be excited about testing out all your hard work especially after you have had the geo done. 😀

Drove it to the local main dealer to collect OPC (Over Priced Components) - rear coffin arm eccentric bolt assemblies.

Roof down, plenty of forays to 6500+rpm - in 2nd - wonderful.

Found some slipperiness on the way - no eNanna/PSM - which reminded me why I love driving these older Boxsters so much, they must be amongst the very last of the analogue cars.

I went the long way to Bath to pick up a new MacBook and thoroughly enjoyed the drive, the first proper one in a while, no roof down as I have the HT in place, still very exhilarating.

Can total agree with @map re last of the analogue Porsches.

I'm pretty sure the headlights are not sealed units and have a vent that clears out humidity when the car moves due to the change in pressure over the vent opening.

I think your right as it cleared up when I drove on with the lights on as @rowbos suggested.
