  1. I think it is just a cosmetic thing, they do definitely look better on 19” but I don’t think there is anything performance wise to gain.
It’s the rubber that makes the difference, I had two 987s with 19” one on Continental and one on Michelin. To me the Michelin fettle better but I’m no race driver😂

I completely agree, though I have been reliably informed that the DesignTek Valvetronic exhaust is akin to the PSE in terms of tone and retaining the character of the flat six.

With the discount from Design 911 and fitting by a specialist it works out at around £1150.  And it’s full stainless, whereas the PSE is mild steel.

Here are a couple of clips of it fitted to a 981:

It does sound nice on those clips and at that price it is a considerable saving over the PSE.

It is hard to tell from the clips but the factory one is definitely a deeper tone and pops are more bassy. But for the price it sounds like a good option.

My 981 had all the options I wanted except the PSE and I booked it straight in with Cotswold. It totally transformed the car and although expensive it has been worth every penny. I wasn’t taking any chances as on one of my previous Boxsters I fitted a aftermarket market valved exhaust and yes it was loud and good fun but for me it was a bit much. It was great for a weekend blast but it would of annoyed me if driven on a daily basis even with the valves closed.

  3. I started with 5mm all round on my 981, mainly as I had them in the garage and they looked great. But a few months later I went 7mm front and 15mm rears, they look excellent with the 20” alloys👌
Mine are some designtec ones which I bought off the forum but I have used the bimecc before on previous Boxsters and they were excellent 😎

Cheers @daz05 this sort of stuff is new to me. Just downloaded Spotify 👍 Already had the Waze app but I’ve never used it yet 🙄😂. Main thing for me was getting the Nav (when needed) through the PCM unit as apposed to through the phone on a mount stuck to the front screen 👍

Glad you finally got it sorted out! Mine is just the standard head unit with the nav and Bluetooth streaming so it is good enough for me 👍

Just been out for a breakfast run with Mneil and Gobind, mainly so Gobind can try his newly purchased 986s manual on our local country lanes. It performed fantastic and he really enjoyed it. He previously had a 987.2 PDK and after a sort change to a M2 Comp he decided he wanted another Porsche but fancied a more analog feel hence the 986s. It’s a lovely example and comes with the factory GT3 body kit minus the boot spoiler 👌😎

So this morning for a change I thought I would try Sports + with the PASM in the firmer setting and was fantastic! Really helped keep the car flat on the bends and also helped bouncing over the bumps but wasn’t too stiff.  Very impressed, it reminded me of my 987.2 with the DSC controller. I feel like I’ve been missing out, this will be my new go to for pressing on round the country lanes 👌👍

  5. I hadn’t considered the running in period😂

I would hold fire on the exhaust until you have got some mileage on it and see what you think. Also it gives people a chance to try different exhaust combinations at their expense and then you can learn from their expensive mistakes.

I been watching a few guys in the states trying to get a decent sound out the Spyder and they are spending some serious money and yes it does sound louder but not a very nice sound to far😉

  6. Yours does sound like a sensor or something similar but I had a issue with mine the other week.

Mine wouldn’t seem to get warm even with the temperature turned right up and after a 50 minute drive to Gaydon.

I checked my coolant cap and it was a bit crusty on the thread so I cleaned it up and added a tiny amount of coolant. That seemed to fix mine fortunately but I was originally thinking maybe a faulty cabin sensor.

I don’t think yours is the same thing but it is worth checking your coolant level and cap👍

  7. No more than two cans of the red and one can of lacquer.

    4x Porsche stickers

    newspapers and tape

    2x red scotchbrite cloth

Solvent cleaner/ panel wipe or brake cleaner

    I think that’s everything 👍

  8. I haven’t got the official code but I’ve used Guards red to touch in chips before and it works well.

I ve sprayed a couple of sets before and I used hycote high temperature red and they turned out excellent although the red is slightly brighter but looks and holds up great 👍

Just can’t stop buying bits for my 981 🙄😂 Today I picked up some GTS Rear Defusers to replace my standard ones 👍

    0-B386-FC8-6-B7-D-4-E65-A0-BD-3-A4774106

You will enjoy fitting those 😂

Make sure you loosen your tailpipe and push it down out of the way, makes removing the exhaust trim a lot easier but is still is a pig👍 Definitely worth the effort though 😎

  10. Haven’t all 981’s got the Sport button even if they haven’t got the full Sports chrono?

Mine has got Sports chrono but I only really use the sport button to sharpen it up and get the sports exhaust popping.

    Nice looking car 👍

  11. Well mine hasn’t been to the petrol station today for some ridiculously priced fuel but I have refitted my interior trim strips after a makeover 👍

I’m really pleased with how they have turned out, I could never make my mind up about the aluminium finish and I wanted some thing to brighten the interior.😎

  12. Hi there and congratulations on your new car 👌

They are quite new and I don’t think there are many on the forum yet due to the delays.

I saw a Cargraphic system for sale in a magazine which had freer flowing PPF filters, no idea how much it would be 😩

Im guessing if you remove them you will get a fault light so a sports version is probably the way forward.

Post some pictures of your car when you get chance as we aren’t seeing many of them 👍

I think that the real point to all this that PASM in sport mode is unusable on our roads, but the DSC makes that function work.

I would really like to invest but at the price point it’s a would like but not a total need.

That is exactly it, and the combination of the suspension working more efficiently with the sharp steering on the 987 is a absolute winner.

It is a pity they are so expensive, I think really they should be £5/600 and most people would invest in one 👍

My only concern would be the setting up to suit the individual and his/her requirements.

Having spent many years setting cars up with different spring rates, Dampers and valving of Dampers it is an utter minefield.
Even the experts like Nitron get it wrong. They tried to set up a set of suspension units for my TVR several times and got it all wrong. So much so that the standard springs and Dampers work better.

I understand you can adjust each corner individually but I should imagine the secret is knowing exactly what you are doing, detecting minor changes and getting the whole thing set up correctly. It would be very easy to input settings that would be detrimental to the ride.

interesting to hear from anyone who has played about and set up their own settings without excepting a pre-set up package.

Another option is to have it fitted and set up at Center Gravity, I believe that was what the original owner of mine did.

Obviously mine would of been optimised for his car which was 987.1S and mine was a 987.2S but it worked a charm.

DSC do a whole range of suspension products and I would imagine a lot of the programming of the DSC controller is to optimise their complete suspension set ups as I think it will have a lot more room for adjustment over the oem PASM
