    Lol!

Used to love hearing 3 litre Capris go by, and 2.8s. Never had one but my brother-in-law had a Capri Laser in 1986 and I used to think that was the bees knees!

Hope my 928 gets snapped up, it's on AutoTrader now - wish me luck, don't think there's quite the same market as 986s though.

    🙏🏼

  2. Seems like snooze you lose atm. I remember those days of getting the Thames Valley Trader first thing on a Thursday morning and then rushing home to the landline to start ringing owners of black 3.0S Capris only to find them sold already 😞

We love speculate. The collector is just that, a collector. I dont have that mind set, few do, I have delt with them in the area of books though. I've known of collectors who,  on obtaining a  near mint rare edition, long out of print, would barely open the thing let alone ever read it. A Boxster is quite a pivotal car historically, it saved Porsche from going bust, a minter may be a must for the yet unborn collector. There will always be punters though.

And you get nothing in the bank so why not start a collection.......plus there's an awful lot of peps out there with the odd billion burning a hole!

having not long had my 986, i assumed the reluctance between 1st and 2nd is just the character of having a 20 year old gearbox. but it definitely improves when its warm.

during my next service i think i'll get the gearbox oil changed since its a pretty cheap addition to a service cost, and i've no idea when it was last changed, if at all.

and as for IMS and all that jazz - well, i figure if the engine has made it to 20 years old and its still working, whatever is in there is probably fine. but i'll keep to my maintenance schedule and change the engine oil every year (likely 2000 miles a year tops) and every time i go out the car gets a good workout so... hopefully it'll stay that way.

This ^ I think they’re all notchy between 1st & 2nd in cold weather but once warm normally alright. I changed my gearbox oil and it’s definitely smoother both cold and warm. Tbh I didn’t notice it last winter.

As the spoiler goes up at 75mph, I wonder if that's evidence for the plod to give you a speeding ticket.😁

I would suggest staying within the speed limit if plod are close enough to be able to see the spoiler up lol

You mean temporarily, temporarily, until it applies everyday for ever and ever….

Motorbikes are free on both so I can still rip it up over Chelsea bridge lol............................currently

Strange that as just checked my 02 986 3.2S and it is not exempt! When I checked a year ago it was 🤔 which I thought was a bit strange at the time.  Must be tightening up the rules

Just double checked, only the congestion charge applies to my 02 Boxster S, no ULEZ charge applies.  And noticed the congestion charge is also temporarily being applied at weekends!

£9.5k for a regular 2.7 987 with a Cat status didn't seem that cheap to me.

Perhaps the markets moved on. Personally if it is cheap when compared to the market buy on condition and service history and don’t forget you most likely not get market rate when you sell.

The ULEZ  and Congestion Charge are different. A 987.2 is exempt from the ULEZ, but not CC. The really annoying thing is there are many thousands of diesels - VW, Audi, Merc, BMW etc, which have the Euro 6 certificate, but this was fiddled in lab tests, and they don't meet that standard in use. A subject of many ongoing court cases. It's rather typical of so many of these traffic reducing measures. Seen to be doing something to satisfy the activists. And of course raises revenue. That it may not actually reduce pollution doesn't matter. Close to here in SW London (but outside the proposed ULEZ extension) they have introduced fenced off cycle lanes in each direction on a main road. Reducing the traffic (including buses) to a standstill for much of the day. And stationary traffic produces emissions too, so actually increases the total for that journey.

Welcome to the new ‘enforced’ world order...

I dropped the car off the previous night, but I could have waited but had an audit to attend, would rather not state price on forum but very reasonable, PM me if you want prices.

Thanks I took a look at CPS website and the indicative prices are on there 👍🏼

New clutch in, RMS replaced and new clutch fluid along with new arms and alignment of the soft opening all done at CPS, even got a complimentary leather OEM key fob.

Apparently the clutch was absolute toast, it’s now almost as if there is no clutch, it’s extremely light, no juddering when pulling away, just a a pleasure, it’s amazing what becomes the norm.

Think you got your monies worth out of the original clutch. You can now start dumping the new one at every set of lights lol Was it done while you waited and are you able to share how much £?

It wasn’t Spyder Performance, that’s where I got the parts from, they have been brilliant!

The top mounts are sorted and everything is fitted correctly, think it’s just a rattle

Oh ok so the original outfit have been helpful thus far they might take a another look if only to retrieve the claw hammer for their shadow board lol

After the front refresh, went for a short blast, alas still a noise 😡

Got home and grabbed the front wheel and gave the car a good rock and while the car settles sounds like a screwdriver rocking around in the belly pan any ideas? Other than I left a screwdriver in the belly pan 🤬

Even if I rock the car from the rear still the sound from the front, nothing is loose wondering if something is just rattling behind some plastic in the wheel arch, very puzzling🤨

Im very quickly realising why I Normally just let my usual Porsche indi do everything, going to try one last time before I spend the big bucks😞and give them a ring after the long weekend.

    Arghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Take it back to Spyder performance see how they react 🤷‍♂️

I rang Spyder Performance to try and understand myself what has been done wrong and apparently is more common than not which I thought was quite concerning. I know you obviously pay a bit more for specialists but would have though that some generic things like suspension would be covered by a garage , apparently not!
Quite worrying really as like you said can be very dangerous

I was only doing about 50 on the A24 heading south single lane and nearly ended up in oncoming traffic. Worst thing was SWMBO was in the car and shyate herself, blaming me for pushing it!

Not great news! late yesterday, took my car in for the wheel alignment after all my suspension work and got a call to say the garage that had done the top mounts have left the rubber ring and metal cup off the top of the spring

So the spring just sits up against the bearing and doesn’t fit correctly. Great!
Does anyone have a picture of what has been left out so I can show garage? Just used a local garage and not Porsche Indi for this as I thought it was quite straightforward!

I had this when I bought my car. Previous owner had the top mounts done a year earlier and the garage he used did the same. I had the car 3 months and nearly lost it on a left hand bend. I couldn’t work out what was wrong until the top mount failed. In the end had all the suspension replaced and a geo redone by a trusted indie. Perfect now
