While your there it would be prudent to change the spark plugs unless you historically have their change date....

Thanks for the offer of the wiring diagrams. Now fixed.

It also helps when filling the system to have the header tank up high so either jack up or drive the rear wheels onto ramps.

Had a similar issue on a mercedes recently which turned out to be a broken coil spring on one side.
It wasn't immediately obvious until I did a wheel off inspection as the broken part was where it locates in the lower part of the shock absorber.
Hope you get it sorted even if I offered a curve ball.

Fired up the OBD, Bank 2 oxygen sensor.
I’m pretty sure they have never been changed.
Which sensor?-pre or post cat?
What fault code was stored?
Bank 2 is passenger side on a UK car.

@RedBaredriver might be worth checking the spark plug tubes and O rings while you are there for oil leaks otherwise you will be doing the job twice 🙂

Good hard tops are difficult to find.
Most are abused in storage so check leading edges for corrosion or be prepared to respray it......
On the point of storage they are big lumps so might be advisable to invest in a hanging arrangement, a trolley carrier or a classic Porsche wall mount with hardtop cover bag.
-
The first place I'd check is behind the front towing eye cover, owners have been known to relocate it here-takes the least amount of time.......
-
A bit late to the party but am I correct in thinking a 2000 MY 986 has a fuel filter under the car which might also contribute to this issue if its blocked.......quick to check and at no cost.

If you dont wish to remove it just use a large jubilee clip at each end 🙂

The single row was not introduced until part way into the 2001 model year (late year 2000 build dates as model year changes in August).
Hi 1/2cwt Can you advise the OP at what engine number this changed from single row to double row (or vice versus-cant remember which way)....I'm sure I've seen you quote this before.....at least this way the OP is armed with the correct information.

I have an original 986 3.2 S rear silencer I need to get rid of. It's on eBay at the moment but I'd rather someone on here have it. Pretty good condition. Not sure if it would fit (yours is a 2.5 2.7?)? PM me if of interest. Located in Hampshire.

Is it still an MOT pass example?

If you have a set of ramps would it just be easier to use them?

it's only when I try to indicate left that neither the dash light or the indicator itself flash.
Logical explanation might be loom wiring to the stalk-possible connector issue to indicator wand would be a good starting point.

Unbolt the spinlock and just remove the whole lot, then you can see where it's stuck.
+1 that would be my thoughts exactly also @Stuart1

If you can lay your hands on a old scaffold board or two it will do the same job and provide a little additional height to ply 🙂

Don't expect it to come out easily once it starts moving-work it clockwise and anti-clockwise as you start to undo it....

@1/2cwt Coffin arm otherwise known as a transverse arm....I must be getting old knowing all these old descriptions 😉

Remove the bolt from the tuning fork to the coffin arm.
Great plan-but not all newbies know this part by that name.......I certainly didn't (-:
@300SL-24 the tuning fork is the equivalent of a trailing/longitudinal arm.

Thanks maybe I will try it first
Use some brake cleaner 1st to insure the mating surfaces are spotlessly clean.
It wouldn't hurt to add some grease to the CV joint in case it has lost any too.

Many thanks
If your MOT time is imminent you could glue the boot just to give you some breathing space 🙂

I always use two jacks-i can recommend SGS Tools for these, good quality and double piston.
Best to purchase a low profile type for the Boxster-or alternatively drive onto scaffold boards to give you extra ground clearance.
Look on Utube for an article by "road and race" on how to jack up a boxster-very informative 🙂
As 1/2cwt says-if jacking the rear REMEMBER to chock the front wheels.

@andrewwallingLook in the how to section for a good write up on fitting plus part number for each side.
