    Hi

Thats cool. I have a plain jane beeping ultrasonic set to go on. Will use the tow hook eye I think then put a symmetrical one the other side, then another painted to match the plate in the middle. Will see when the time comes.

+1 for the coolness of the camera.

I went for the Turtle Wax kit from Amazon for £10.  Did it yesterday and am really impressed with the results.  It's a far more manual process as the sanding pads do not attach to a drill but for £10 it did a grand job of removing 16 years worth of oxidisation.

I'm doing my left hand headlight at the moment. Have run out of the correct grade of emery paper for now. I am on 1500 and still have a fair bit of cr*p on the lens to get rid of before I move on to the next level but it's starting to look really good. I had bought a spare light off eBay because I didn't feel like the faff but that has a burnt inside lens (which the photographs on eBay didn't show...). At least it means the car still has both headlights whilst I restore this one.

I also ran out of paper. Ordered some more and I'll continue with this soon

    Evening Bob

I track the 993 on occasion and no harm in good oil for that, the Boxter is a good one, so happy to treat it to the same.

No harm in giving it the best. 👍

I don't disagree. I work in the oil industry, I was curious for my own reasons as to how performance car owners select their lubricant.

Thanks for the few replies 😁👍

First time Bob, normally I use Motul fully synthetic ester oils on my 993, but the Millers Ester oils get good reviews so trying them for the first time.

I also fitted a Gold plug magnetic sump plug whilst in there. (Note stock image) the correct one is MP10

Thanks for the reply. Just curious, what's the reason you are using a group 5 product for your car?

Are you seeing any real world benefits? Fuel economy, performance?

Time in my hands and what better way to spend it, working on the car.

Fresh Millers oil and filter, air filter, cabin filter, new serpentine belt.

The car is new to me, so very happy with the oil filter.

The old sixteen inch rims with decade old tyres have gone. Fully refurbished BBS classics fitted with Michelin PS4’s.
New Bluetooth dongle for the Becker Indianapolis pro.
Love getting this car ready for later in the year.

Do you use Millers lubricant often?

Welcome, won't that process totally remove any UV protection that was on there previously? I t-cut mine once recently and it still had a bit of shyate on it, but I was reluctant to do another polish..

They were knackered anyway before I started. I guess I could keep doing it until the lenses disappear altogether...

Alternatively, a bit of clear vinyl might do the trick

  9. My terrible searching then! I thought this would have been covered.

Yes I am pleased, I've ran out of sandpaper as they could do with smartening up a little more, but the difference is incredible.

No idea where to start with bodywork. I have a couple of 5p sized bonnet chips. I'll let a pro look at that when the covid-19 is over.

    thanks for the replies.

  10. Hello everyone,

    My first post :)

    I am a new Boxster owner. I own a 2004 2.7 Boxster. Perhaps I haven't searched correctly, but I couldn't find a post about headlight restoration.

Anyway, my Boxster had badly pitted headlights. Here is a photo of them before and after. The ones with masking tape are before:

I used Autoglym restoration kit. It was exceptionally easy to do.

Here is the video I used to teach me:
