Bit pricey that one, they were available for £55 a while back. Logo also might be trying too hard for some tastes.

Mine had that white logo on it when I bought it, and it really bugged me for obscuring the rear view in the mirror. Luckily it was easy to remove the decal.

Another vote for the CTEK MXS-5.

I've got a plug hardwired onto the battery. I also have a Bluetooth battery monitor on the battery, which provides cranking and charging information via an app, so I know when to get it on the optimiser.

+1 for bluetooth battery monitors, very handy.

  3. Battery conditioners do work through the cigarette lighter, as the connection stays live if there is something connected to it (they do go to sleep if there is no current flow). I use a CTEK, it sits in the passenger footwell, the cable goes over the sill and the door closes and locks perfectly. I put the CTEK plug in a waterproof box that has a plug inside and the cable goes to an outside socket where it is connected.

  4. I have one from a few years ago and keep it for a spare. It gets used in our camper van to top up the leisure battery when we’re hooked up and works just fine. IIRC they are low amperage charging rate, but are fine as battery conditioners.

Not driven it yet but I'm doubtful if I'll notice anything.

Don’t be so negative. You’ll get improved fuel economy, faster turn in, better tyre life, stronger erections, more meaningful conversations, etc, etc  :)

  6. I had projector headlights on my 200SX and they were similarly limited IMHO. I went the HID route for those and it did make a big difference, but I’ve been underwhelmed with the LEDs on the Boxster. It has made a noticeable difference so I would still do the same again but I think the projector lenses are too small and if the front of the headlight is at all dirty then they are laughably poor. My 5 series BMW has OEM HID projectors (2006 plate, so roughly the same age) and they are stunningly good.

  7. I fitted LEDs to mine, that were standard halogen before. They are easy to fit as the headlights come out as a unit so you can work on them on a bench. The bulbs just swap over, the only complication being the need to get the box of electronics and an additional Philips anti-flicker/CANBUS unit into the back of the headlight. It’s just a matter of gently arranging all the parts in there.

Mine have gone through two MOTs with no comment. The light colour is much whiter and more modern looking and they are noticeably brighter than before. They are not however “transformational” as you are limited by the crapness of the projector design. I would summarise it as a very worthwhile modification for the cost.

I seem to have all the parts listed. I'm talking about the small piece of tube at the end of each brace. I haven't measured it yet but the internal diameter appears to be approximately 14mm. This is where the 10mm bolt will pass through. This just doesn't appear correct to me.

I see what you mean, but it’s not an issue. The centre brace is threaded at the bottom so the bolt is secure when tightened and the tube is held by the split bushes. There is no rattling at all when tightened.

Parts arrived today. I have a question for those who have fitted this. A 10mm bolt through the brace is a rattling good fit. Surely the brace should have a bush/sleeve to take up the space? Doesn't seem right to me🤔

If you mean the centre brace on the bulkhead, then yes, each side has a split bush around the bolts. They are listed in the first post. The four smaller bolts onto the strut towers don’t have anything.

Have asked the seller if this fits my car. He says it won't. He says the gen 2 is slightly different. I've asked what the difference is but not had a reply yet. Do you know if this is the case BBB?

I’m sorry, I don’t know the differences, but based on the post above you may get most of the correct parts anyway. It’s your choice of course, but at that cost I would risk it and buy it. I then bought any missing pieces (in my case the two central bushes) and the bolts as they were cheap from OPC. If it doesn’t fit then put it back on ebay or accept that you wasted not a lot of money.

  11. As above, Polytol is excellent for colour restoration, but don’t over apply it or you’ll end up with a sticky layer.

I had one corner lifting on mine and found that you can adjust the position by loosening the nuts under the covers and moving it slightly until you get a better fit, then retightening evenly both sides. It might be a job for a warmer day though, when the plastic is more flexible.

By the way it’s a freedom of speech thing that and we shouldn’t be insulted for our personal opinions either, however wrong we may or may not proven to be in due course 😁

There are some things that I don’t think anyone should be insulted for, generally the things that people have no choice in and cannot change, like gender, skin colour etc, where insults are just mindless discrimination.

But personal opinion should always be open to criticism as you’ve made a conscious, free-willed choice, and voiced it on a public forum. If you really don’t want to run the risk that someone may insult you then the only way is to keep your opinions to yourself. That’s the dilemma of true free speech.
