topradio
Prices went up well before the exchange rate turned bad for imports. I think it was @Menoporsche posted prices from around Europe and the UK came out cheapest by far.
Jeoff
wow..just changing times I guess, I'll try find that post. I bought a new 986 in late 2002 and it seemed fairy reasonable -
Menoporsche
Exchange rate turned bad by end 2003 IIRC (I lost 5k compared to if I’d brought my savings over sooner) and that was when all the LHD cars disappeared from the UK s/h market as people realized the could be sold abroad. By know from what I know of a few countries they have far higher taxes on cars at least partly due to pollution dissuasion. The UK taxes are still quite low in they respect. EXY
Try buying in N. Ireland if you think England is expensive. We bought a Tucson recently and had to travel to Hereford to get a deal.
Lord Hemming
Whilst cars are expensive in the UK, they are still cheaper than Germany and most other countries in mainland Europe.
robporsche
car tax in the Netherlands is crazy, so just get loads of nutters on bikes. about 600 euros a month for a basic petrol car.
