alank
Hi, Need to change a rear nearside droplink . Was wondering if I can do it by Just jacking up that one side, and not the whole rear of the car. Any advice greatly appreciated. Just noticed the use of 16 and 18mm nuts. Off to Halfords I guess, what's the matter with using 17 and 19mm like other cars, ha, ha. Thanks. Alan
deanmr2
Hi Alan, you can do the job by just jacking up one side. The job itself is straightforward enought but the pinch bolt that goes through the wheel hub carrier that clamps the shock absorber can be a right pain to remove. When I replaced my droplinks I found the best way was to pop off the arm of the droplink and this lets you get at the hex after the ball with an impact socket, apply heat to the bolt (at the nut end) till it glows red then use the impact gun on the hex working it back and forward and this will eventually free the pinch bolt in the wheel carrier. charlieboy2608
Personally I'd change both sides as if one has perished the other wont be far behind....but I'm sure many will disagree with that statement ;-)
bally4563
Easier with both wheels off the ground , then you are not fighting the load on the ARB.
