dunks
I've always been told you dont jet wash engines..... SO why have Porsche designed a cover just for that https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-Special-Tool-9635-For-Jetwashing-986-Boxster-Engines/253039954183?hash=item3aea5b4907:g:f0MAAOSwSzFZZKcl

antjrice
The way I see it 'Over 70 percent of Porsche vehicles are still on the road today' because they do not jet wash their engines... Seriously though, i've never done it but I know it's a thing. I can only imagine you have to do some work to protect the electrical connections. Sanky
How would you even use this? And what’s the point of the cover with a million bolts on it? Surely if you are going to jet wash the engine with that part off, you don’t need to put the cover back on. Unless it’s to replace the original engine cover all together. But even then it seems pointless.
antjrice
It's probably something to do with controlling or limiting the water that would be splashed back and drench the inside of the hood, but it all seems a bit daft.
mortzz
Why would you clean an engine that you cant see..lol
GmanB
This reminds of when car dealers take pictures of the plastic covers inside engine bays and put them on their ads.
jonogt6
That's rather bizarre! I'd imagine you could count the amount that they sold on one hand.
½cwt
Not averse to jet/steam cleaning an engine bay in my time and have never had a problem, but as others have noted you're not likely to pop off all the covers and put the hood in service position to show a pristine engine bay as opposed to popping the bonnet on a front engine car..
