Can you get a photo of what you're referring to ? Imgur and Flickr links are the best way to show a photo on here.

Jeansbeetle
I would probably use contact adhesive. I’ve got to eventually replace the door rubbers on my beetle and that’s that they are fitted with.
Menoporsche
ooh, haven't seen that before.

Spookily this has just happened to me and I came on to ask about it, so thanks for beating me to it, I'll use some contact adhesive. I wasn't sure if the little "hook" bit by your thumb was supposed to hook on to something, but I guess not. The window/roof rubbers on mine do look like they should just be replaced, will have a look and see what's involved.
Greybeard
I would use a heat resistant contact adhesive, as used for trim fixing in cars/van headlinings etc. Mostly in large tins, except for this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202147709027?hash=item2f10f14063:g:744AAOSwHB5dijGn&var=502135907717
