Sammysmiths
My Carrera white Boxster has a small area of impact damage on the rear bumper. The paint is cracked and chipping away. An area approx 12cm x 7cm. I’ve had a paint guy look at it and it can’t be repaired so the whole bumper needs painting due to the shape not having any natural swage lines. Cost around £300. Question is. Do I leave it until I can afford to get it painted. Or cover with a sticker? Or attempt to do a DIY fill and paint the area as a temporary fix ? ½cwt
There is no substitute for a pro paint job so don't spend any patching up money would be my advice. Have search around your area, I found a local paint specialist with Porsche experience, doesn't do insurance repairs, just special finishes and restoration work. A 986 front bumper given to him as a stripped component was only £240 incl. VAT to paint.

I lived with mine until I could afford to get it fixed. No one else seemed to notice the damage (present when I got the car) but it caught my attention every day. If you're anything like me, it'll bug you until it's perfect. Sticker or bodge will only draw your attention all the more.
zcacogp
Depends upon how good your handiwork is. For my money I'd try and DIY it but I know I'm pretty good with my hands. If you are the type whose previous attempts at painting are worse that those by David Blunkett when his guide dog is on strike then maybe put your pennies towards a professional job.
Ninesomething
Well it won't rust. Stick a nurburgring sticker over it.
