Henry Hem Posted August 7, 2022 Report Share Posted August 7, 2022 Hi everybody - I am new to Porsche driving and loving the experience i have a 64 plate Boxter S (981) and when i accelerate gently there is a 'tinkling' sound from the exhaust it seems. You might want to post this in the 981 section/technical section. Maybe posting a video with the audio (YouTube link for example) might help her to the bottom of it. I would be checking for a possible leak, starting where the cats connect to the back boxes in the rear wheel well. I would also check for obvious bits that maybe loose and vibrating. I had a fluttering noise on my 987 pse and it was the flap on the one valve. I don’t know if the 981 is the same but there was post on the valve that fitted and rotated in the bottom of the valve casting. I could put my finger on the bottom of it and you could feel the play in it. I did have some work done on the car to free the valves up and I don’t remember it doing after. It maybe a different set up on the 981, mine was a new retro fit so I haven’t had any issues or even really looked underneath at it.
