Adrian Reeve
Morning all, I’ll need to replace front discs and pads soon. Having a quick look around, M-tec keep appearing - has anyone used them, and are they ok, or better to stick to Brembo, Texar, Ate etc.? Real world experience of them would be good, if anyone has used them. Cheers Adrian
Macus
I’ve used them on my TT and they’re decent enough. id probs go genuine on the Porsche though.

Textar are the genuine Porsche supplier if you want to avoid Porsch tax by getting them in a box with Porsche printed on it.

edc
What drives people to M-tec? Is it the price or the performance? It's funny how most seem to be more picky about tyres than brakes.

Codfanglers
These are vented/drilled/handed and I've had them on my car with Textar pads for over a year. No issues. £62 for a pair delivered. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194037919235?fits=Car+Make%3APorsche|Model%3ACayman&hash=item2d2d8fae03:g:yEIAAOSwurBgdw6s&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsEY4VXW%2BUN4kHnEOn4dVfQFmKBYcXylMiC7Emc8mbwSsLBqchOQpYNxHwyWymxoB2fXavokAEWJUTdYUfXx6oD8doglTjHOMyUH20bdAIy7yqjnwzwJUwNM%2FI%2BGegQuSDpjqDzWaAw%2ByuwM%2FS4dJ%2FM2RPktCtRj4ZhVKRUcUdige6mG6OiEAWu6URrWNV2KU9fbt3Knlt2jfwlyEWgEByPAz%2FcMahAqQrY8C2OHsQ2HP|tkp%3ABk9SR_yop9aOYQ

It's funny how most seem to be more picky about tyres than brakes. May be because it is easier to get to the limit of the tyres than the brakes on what is already a very well 'braked' car and tyres are also related to much better. If the brakes were sketchy then the collective might put more thought into how to make them better. Back in my days of Impreza ownership in the '90s brakes were more often a subject than tyres. Draw your own conclusion as to how good standard scooby brakes were.
Lennym1984
I've used Mtec discs in the past (and I think possibly the current ones are Mtec). They're absolutely fine and have stood up to many track days without any issue.

I daily my TT / use it as a cruiser and don’t expect to make any money on it when I come to sell.
