zagamuffin
Are the two wires going to airbag polarity sensitive, I need to rewire an update wheel /airbag and don’t have wiring diagram.
½cwt
@Richard Hamilton calling on an expert, not wanting you to blow one in error; although I can't see why they would be polarity sensitive.
T911UK
Pretty sure they are, the plug only goes in one way, right?

BBB
Doesn’t the car do an airbag check when you turn it on (the airbag light on the dash briefly lights then goes out if all is well)? Checking the wires for polarity with a voltmeter during the check may help.
zagamuffin
Maybe @Richard Hamilton can chime in ???
Richard Hamilton
The startup test measures the resistance of the airbag. About 2.7 ohms iirc. I'll check the wiring diagram tomorrow morning when I get to my PC, to see if it gives any clues.

Richard Hamilton
Here is the airbag wiring diagram for the 2004 986: <2004 986 Airbag Wiring Diagram> I can now see that your ride is a C4S, but I had already uploaded the diagram before logging in. Here it is for the C4S: <2003 C4S Airbag Wiring Diagram> Either way, you can see that there is a +ve and -ve connection to the airbag. Now you need to figure out which is Pin 1 and 2 on the airbag plug. They are usually marked somewhere in the moulding, but have a magnifying glass handy.
