Boxster 981 8 year service

My 981 2.7 is due its 8 year service and has full OPC history and low miles 15k.

OPC’s nearest to me are Hatfield and Cambridge. I’ve used Hatfield previously but thinking about moving on to an independent, JAZ at St Albans are cheaper and just as close to me, any one used them and can recommend?

Does the car lose any value / desirability by not having full OPC history or at this age (8 years) is it irrelevant.

TIA.

I think generally it’s pretty irrelevant to most as long as it has been regularly serviced by at least a Porsche specialist. My only reservation would be that for such a low mileage car, they’re may be a particularly fussy buyer out there who would pay more for FPSH, but I doubt it’s worth the extra cost for the outside possibility that they are looking for a car whenever you decide to sell.

It does have an impact as it will decrease its trade in value to an OPC and it also makes adding a warranty more difficult, so I would say if you are thinking of selling/trading in in the next year or so then stick to OPC.  However if you are likely to keep it until say it’s next service after this then what happens on this service probably makes little difference.

8 year BGTS service and MOT complete with no issues! 😁

As someone who has the 8 yearservice Porsche benefit contribution looming next year, may I ask how much was the service. Also, as a mtter of interest, di you car feel any better  for the attention lavished on it by the. team of dedicated, enthusiastic service pro's?  :)

Hi Andy, no worries, it was £955 including VAT. To be honest I’ve only driven it a few miles back home, however I doubt it will feel any different to me.
As an aside I got the timesheet from the service department - work began at 9.27am and lasted until 4.07pm so 6.5 hours!

6.5 hours labour would put it at well over a grand on labour alone at most OPC’s as my local OPC hourly rate is £170 plus VAT. So I’m guessing they never actually worked on it for 6.5 hours 🤷‍♂️

I must be similar location to you with Cambridge and Hatfield my locals. Cambridge were absolutely useless in calling me back despite trying a few times to book a service. Hatfield I have heard very mixed feedback on people’s dealings with them, as such I’m booked in with RPM Technik early Nov for 8yr service.

OP here, that's a good price from an OPC these are the prices I’ve been quoted :

OPC Hatfield £1.578.26

OPC Cambridge £1.376.68

JAZ (Independent) £945.61   All prices include VAT.

So I’ve decided to go to JAZ at St.Albans just as close as OPC Hatfield to me, they are recommended by the PCGB R21 Boxster register.

Anyone used them???

Thanks to all who replied to this thread.
