Cleaned the rads out today, and fitted an new pair of a/c condensers and drier, now booked in to have it re-gassed, and see if it works, as it hasn't since i purchased the car.  The old condensers had started to disintegrate!

At least KwikFit do not charge for regassing if there are still leaks in the system (in old cars the pipes are known to corrode under the car), keep that in mind.

In other words it didn’t look right, but was right

    It was ever thus.
I think there is no one right answer. You could have following the curve, dead straight, or a combination of both, to taste. And then discuss the spacing between the letters.

  3. As mentioned on another thread - get a quote for the central panels re-covered in alcantara. A relatively simple job and thus should be quite cheap. I can imagine side bolsters more complex and thus more expensive.

  4. You're all over the threads! I had to go and find it...

In the intro to the heated seat project, at about 1.50 he says he bought the original switches. At about 4.45 he says the switches normally toggle for two temperature settings. So both 9x6 and 9x7 have two stage heating. But he then says that they couldn't work out how to wire the seats to get both settings working.  I have not watched all the other videos to see if they then solved that.

The retro fit I have seen (I think on here) had a two stage switch. The standard switches are, I think, one stage.

My 987 are two stage and as it never gets colder here than about 4C I only use the lower setting. That’s hot enough for me!
the video you posted of the 986 showed they were two stage also.

  6. Ah; do check that one of the arms isn’t bent.  IIRC that happens more often than you’d think. Can try by eye or can unbolt both and put them on a flat surface, see if they aren’t symmetrical.

Yes it is a real struggle! Not sure how I get round this. They aren’t snapping anymore just coming off the ball every time the roof is operated.

Try winding them two turns or four turns in one direction, try again? See if they pop earlier or stay on?

  8. You can’t buy OEM, sadly Porsche only sell them on the metal arms. Try a different eBay supplier. But yes, if repeated snapping there is a problem elsewhere.
