I was under the impression that people were unhappy that the 4.0 718 suffers with the petrol equivalent of a DPF, thereby muting the sound.

It’s no where near the sound/ theatre of the 981 PSE and it shuts the valves between 2-4k rpm which further mutes it. It definitely sounds good but it’s a more grown up affair.

Picked her up after the annual oil change, MOT and four wheel alignment 😎👍 Went for the Spyder set up as I run the x73 suspension which of course is standard with the Spyder. Must admit on the short dry home she feel tight as a drum. Before setting was just Boxster with x73
Loving my new GT4 front bumper and glad I went Aurum Gold. I love the look. But I know it wouldn’t be everyone’s bag 😎👍

Passed its MOT and had an annual oil change. Hopefully four wheel alignment tomorrow and she’s ready for the summer 😎👍

Might have to blacken out behind the central air intake and maybe similar for the vent below the bonnet. But I could be just going OTT with this. Time will tell 😂👍

That’s looking fab, it’s just a great bumper design.

Hadan interesting couple of days with a 73 plate 3,000 mile old 718GTs, loaned to me whilst my 981 GTS had the l/hand side of the sports exhaust replaced under waranty.

I was a bit sceptical about the step change of the car over my 981, but have to say it was a revelation.

Steering was so precise, corenring very flat and complaint, the power and acceleration bonkers. I think the experience (I went to Oulton Park to watch my son test his race car, so a 300 mile round trip, motorway and lanes) was extremely good but the tyre noise from the 20inch Pirellis was very loud and intrusive, unlike my PS4's Michelins on the same size rims. They spoilt the car for me I'm afraid.

The manual box was slick and a joy, let down by the  fact that 6th felt too low, with 75mph using 3,00RPM instead of the 2,200 ftrom memory on my PDK'd 981.

It had the carbon buckets installed, which although reasonably comfy and not tooo bad to drop in and climb out of, weren'tt quite as good as the standard GTS offerings which have adjustable backrests. If I was tracking the car, then probably a good to have, otherwise I'm pretty nuetral about them TBH.

Overall, a fantastic car, full of tiny tweaks here and there, drove beautifully, espcially considering my car has only 35,000 mies on it.

Would I buy it? Not at the £85k Porsche Silverstone want for it - It's twice the price of my 2016 car but unfortunately not twice as good as my little beauty! Man maths is busy working out if a cheaper one is doable...

The 4.0 GTS is a great car but I’m the same as you in that it’s not double better than our 981’s. The other issue for me is that you get into Spyder/GT4 at that price point and as a weekend only use I would step up to the GT product.

  5. You need to source a 718/991.2/Macan wheel and airbag.

if you already have a multifunction wheel or PDK you will need an adapter from GPS Adapters to make it work, it’s a little plug in box of tricks.

    Good to go.

Would you guys put a boxster 981 on the car and “agm” setting on the ctex mxs 5.0?

I don’t use the AGM setting on my CTEK 5.0 as it seems to throw up a red light. Instead I use the standard setting without any issues, which the manual says is fine to do.

Also I have mine connected to battery and an earthing bolt on the n/s strut tower as per manual. People seem to have issues with the 12v connection in the car with car shutting it off after a period of time.

  7. I had the multifunction wheel which I hated as it’s just too big in diameter at 380mm, swapped out for a new 718 GT wheel with the GPS adapter. Cost about £1700 all in, got a friend who wants it for £1500 if I ever remove from car.

it’s transformed the look of the interior making it look much more modern and feels great to use being that bit smaller at 360mm. Recommended upgrade.

  8. I must be similar location to you with Cambridge and Hatfield my locals. Cambridge were absolutely useless in calling me back despite trying a few times to book a service. Hatfield I have heard very mixed feedback on people’s dealings with them, as such I’m booked in with RPM Technik early Nov for 8yr service.

What’s the difference between Weiss gold and other silvers? Lighter?

The difference is it’s gold and not silver 😂

it’s a very light gold, tbf the pics have washed out the gold but it very definitely looks gold and not silver in the flesh.
