  1. So I’ve joined the waiting room club for a 4.0 GTS - managed to pick up a cancelled build slot with car available early Q1, expectation was end Q3 talking with another dealership earlier in week.

Going to be a long wait but It will be worth it.

Left work early and took the long route to walk the dog at the beach since the sun was out.  I’ve only had the car since late August so not had a summer in it yet but I never imagined I’d be driving with the roof down as often as I have done over the winter!

The car is lowered at the front but not the rear and it’s a pain getting in the drive, would there be any benefit for someone to have done this or is it more likely they’ve just used the wrong parts?

Im also looking to get both bumpers painted and the wheels done in a darker colour, would like black but I’ve not convinced myself on that one yet.

Clutch is also heavier than I’d like but my indy says there plenty life in it yet although I still think I’m going to get him to change it sooner than he recommends.

I’ve got my wheels in anthracite which looks amazing against the Basalt Black, also colour coding the side vents helps too tidy up overall look of car.

Check for a break on the microswitch solder connection.  I've had to repair one button on @TGI_J's keyfob as it was no longer making good contact.  It's fiddly, but well within the realms of a hobby soldering iron...

Board works absolutely perfectly, all buttons activate identically without key fob cover.

  4. I bought a replacement ‘Porsche’ key off Amazon for around £15, nice quality tbh and looks ok.

Issue I’m having is that whilst the boot and bonnet buttons work fine the door unlock will not work. I’ve stripped key apart and if I press the buttons on the circuit board it locks/unlocks fine - so issue is with key case and the button making the right contact to press the switch.

Anyone can offer any help it would be appreciated, happy to buy another Amazon case if it’s possible I just have a dodgy one.

welcome any input as it’s driving me mad.

You’re right about it having four catalysts and their locations, but I think the primary cats do most of the work. I replaced my exhaust and kept the primary cats, but changed everything backwards of them i.e. the new silencers do not have cats in them.  The car passed the MOT emissions test easily.

Sorry that doesn’t directly help you.

Same for me, no secondary CATS and passed the MOT easily, very doubtful you would get a legit MOT with the primaries removed - just need to f8nd a friendly MOT station.

  6. I’ve got a black Function First gear knob with red numbers coming in the New Year, married to the alcantara shift boot I think it will work well.

May also have centre console colour coded Basalt Black, and may carbon skin (not wrap) the silver trim which surrounds the shift boot.

Also have a plan for the silver fascia of the HVAC and below too.

  7. I’ve got a video from specialist showing an electrical meter on it and when you press remote light is changing colour, so it’s switching and  definitely have vacuum pre solenoid too.

He also checked one way valve is fitted the right way round too.

If the solenoid switch is showing it’s switching but not can only assume faulty solenoid switch?

  8. Have to admit I never got around to doing this mainly because I love the sound so much with valves open, but whilst car with specialist I asked to be sorted.

Slight issue has arisen with solenoid switch in that it’s not switching. Definitely have vacuum, one way valve is in correct way around but no vacuum being passed through switch?

I have contacted Top Gear directly for replacement part but welcome any input.

    Thank you.

  9. Busy day for my Boxster ‘Frank’

    Collected from specialist having had a big list of maintenance completed;

    Clutch/IMS/RMS

All brake pipes due to corrosion, new brake pads front and rear, braided lines & dot 5 fluid

    Front crossover pipes

    Steering rack inner rods “drumsticks”

Top Gear exhaust valves plumbed in, albeit it appears solenoid switch is faulty.

    Fast Road 4 wheel alignment

    Full service & MOT.

Also had some fun bits arrive too in the form of an OMP dished 350mm alcantara wheel with red stitching, and a matching alacantara/red stitched shift boot to match.

Will do some pics in build thread once I’ve sorted a picture host account.

  10. Dropped the Boxster off at AMS Porsche (well technically I did this Friday) for a new clutch/RMS/IMS as on the last enthusiastic drive the 16yo clutch gave up the ghost. Was an exciting drive getting it there with anything other than 10-15% throttle slipping the clutch 😂

Hi, am curious what your thoughts are on your PCW exhaust, they’re just down the road from me and  am thinking of getting one.

I am also local and was going to use PCW but waiting list put me off. Went with a Top Gear valved system which sounds amazing, recommended.
