Agree with colour combo coment, looks like its been made up from several car interiors 😂

Terrible spec/combo - full leather already a marmite choice on GTS, plus it’s hearing aid beige. Red trim pieces is gopping, silver roll over hoops and the worst wheel choice for the GTS.

on top of that the interior looks filthy and unloved/cared for.

  2. Manual GTS owner here and absolutely love it, probably my favourite car owned ever and at 18months in no urge to sell it. This is coming  from a serial car changer who rarely keeps cars more than 12-18months.

No issue with the ‘long gearing’ playing between 2nd and 3rd on an English B road is great fun. If I had to use it as a daily I would succumb to PDK but for pure driving pleasure you cannot beat a manual and driving a PDK car on the paddles isn’t the same.

Prices on the GTS do seem to be all over the place, some quite frankly ridiculous £50k+ prices being asked, markets definitely softening but if GTS drop all the other models below will drop too.

I bought mine from an OPC which was the right thing for me to do at the time. if I were buying again now I have a little more knowledge on them I’d be happy to buy from a good independent and expect to pay £42-48k pending spec/mileage.

Well collected from Porsche Mode this afternoon  - OMG  I was like a kid all over again driving home,I'm not ashamed to say I had the valves open all the way home - lots of burbles, pops, bangs .... it is a little louder and much better than the original PSE muffler - so glad I bought!

And with the valves shut a very sensible note not to upset everyone around,of course 😀

I had a valved Top Gear exhaust on my 987 and loved it, if my PSE valves fail I’ll go down this route too. Sounds like you’re chuffed !!

    On Saturday I did a terrible thing....traded in my wonderful Boxster S for a 981 GT4.

I still think the Boxster is the best value sports car out there and I'm sure I'll mis it and this great forum but the GT4 was very shiny.

    Pics please 😉

    It's very impressive isn't it.

I enjoy trying to nail a good heal and toe but must admit the rev matching is great fun!

I have a favourite B road and dropping to second around 50 as your braking coming into a bend the theatre of sounds makes me grin every time. First time I realised it did it was such a great surprise

Nope, too busy putting the roof down first 😛

Sports Plus also makes the PDK hold gears until almost the redline, so not very road friendly :)

Where as Sport+ on manual gives you rev matching on down shifts. I can adequately heel/toe but the rev matching the car does is really fun as sounds spectacular on a hard drive.

They are not bulbs (checked on PET first) unfortunately they appear to be sealed LED clusters.  I had similar issue with The Better ½'s first VW EOS, only option was a new light cluster; in that case fortunately Hella who did the OE units also did aftermarket ones at a third the price of a factory one.

Start calling the various breakers, or there might be a specialist out there that fixes them like with dash clusters and so on.

Thank you sir, appreciated. I’ll share the bad news with him 😬

I was just about to post the same message. The one in the bumper is reverse. When I had my car painted green I think my guy forgot to paint the 3rd brake light so when he refitted it he realised his mistake. He sent me a couple of pics but I said leave it black. My intention was to get a badge made up saying Boxster with the original swirly lettering as I'm not too keen on the new style. Anyway I'm waffling now sorry. Let's have a pic because we all need one to identify the 3rd brake light and reverse.

Colour works so well, I know you prefer smaller wheels from your previous posts but this would look so good on some silver 20” Carrera Classics or Spyder wheels.

One of my friends who was following me for a bit today mentioned that one of the LEDs in my 3rd brake light isn’t working - does anyone know how to replace that light? The part it’s self looks to be £80 or so. I don’t think I’ve got the chops for bumper removal…

The chap with all the YT vids stripping a 981 has done a video showing how you do it 👍

  10. A friend who is mechanically competent has a failed indicator bulb on his rear cluster and upon inspection and scouring net can’t find a way to replace.

Anyone got any help/experience on doing this as surely this can’t write off a cluster.

I’m hoping it’s some peculiar way of doing it……

Not today, but Sunday afternoon.  75 miles, two hours, first solid top-down drive of the year.  When I've been available before it's been chucking down.

Spotted two other Boxsters, both roof up (which I never judge btw) but neither returned a wave.  Near home I spotted a 911 GT3, didn't bother with a wave as I figured no point - the guy gave me a thumbs up thus marking me out as a non-responding to*ser :rolleyes_anim:

I did 520 miles Sat/Sun visiting Anglesey with friends for a stop over. Roads were ok but a combination of traffic and average speed cameras did spoil some of the driving.

Umm I think they look good from certain angles and a bit awkward from others. It is the same on the GT4 but I think with the wing and the fact it is a GT4 you can sort of forgive them.

The angle I see them from the most when it is parked in the garage is a solid no also I think my white car needs the black vents to brake up the side.

I was out in it on Sunday and walking back to it on the carpark I thought they have got to go 👍

I noticed there is a guy on eBay who modifies these lights and fits all black inserts etc😎

I was very unsure when I first fitted my scoops but I’ve gone the other way and now really like them. Aesthetic mods are always just personal preference.

  13. I had a valved Top Gear exhaust on my previous 987 S, got the PSE on my 981 GTS and I much prefer the PSE. It’s worth noting the PSE has mapping which gives it the crackles in Sport/Sport+ modes.

A friend had his standard exhaust on his 981S modified by PCW Exhaust Mods just outside Bedford. Sounds absolutely superb, significantly cheaper than either PSE or TG aftermarket. If I didn’t have a PSE this is the route I’d go down 100%.

I was out in mine today running my mom around on Mother’s Day and I have to say the standard bumper with my latest splitter on it looks awesome. I think is gives the front a bit more aggression with out trying to hard and matches the factory styling.

I do like the GTS front bumper and think it looks great but it is an expensive option.
I think the Spyder rear spoiler and the Spyder rear diffuser make a huge difference and definitely worth looking into.

I’m still on the fence about the GT4 side scoops, one day I really like them and other days I’m not sure 🤔 I will see what they look like on a sunny day with the roof down and see what I think. Today I liked them 😂

I’m completely the same with the side scoops, I’m 75% convinced but as something I’ve made entirely reversible it’s no issue.

If I were to begin my 981 journey again with everything I know now, I think the priority would be the ride height, the car with whichever, bumper, splitter, diffuser, lights just looks so much better with the x73 setting at -20mm. I'm sure I would have ended up doing it all anyway but that's got to be the biggest bang for your buck at the expense of some of the low speed ride quality of course.

I'm hoping to get my front light inners from the old lights I've been refurbing from the painter today, looking forward to seeing how they will look rebuilt and on the car.

Totally agree, the lowered stance gives the car a much sportier look and seems to enhance the lines too.

'm sure I read somewhere that you can alter the PASM settings with PWIS to suit the X73 springs.

You can, I’ve had the adaption done on my PASM 👍
I am going to add the X73 arb’s front and rear later in the year too.

Looks awesome buddy, think I'm going to have to x73 spring mine.

The drop takes it from a ‘nice’ car to something with a bit of road presence and attitude, proper chuffed tbh.

If I knew what I did now before buying my H&R springs back in Sept I would have done X73 springs too, think you’ll be pleased.
