You definitely don’t want tyres that wide for winter use.
just get yourself some 17” wheels and suitable tyres as a winter set.

I check under the rear hoop at least once a month as a general rule and always after every wash I`d suggest you check yours and if there`s any debris in there get it out to save any future problems.

Was the same as the link above. I got a set at the price now shown originally but the second set (for a cayman) was cheaper for some reason. That was about 6!weeks ago

I got mine from Ali Express for 19.95. Look totally factory. And yes you can see them at night with the lights on etc.
took 20 minutes to fit
-
It’s the brand who make them
find my link and you’ll hopefully get a set at a good price

If you search my previous posts you’ll find a link to some BERU Cali packs which were a great price. i just did all of mine instead of doing one here one there etc.
If you’re in there doing the spark plugs I’d just fit new coil packs. Zero worries and a job ticked off the list.

You have 4 sensors. Knowing which one it was throwing a code would give you a good indication of your initial problem.
I bought a Durametric kit which I’d not be without now but before that I had a cheap OBD dongle and car scanner app that I can use on any car. I think essential if you have a car. Saves a lot of time and wasted money.

Thanks once again. Will dive into my OPC

Afternoon all.
Looking at the front anti roll bar bushes is confusing me as there are many different sizes for the 987 boxster .
Mine is a 2006 2.7 manual with normal; (non sports / PASM) suspension
From what I can gather i need the 19.9mm variety but wondered if anyone can shine a light on this?
Many thanks

My 987 was probably equipped with the worst lights of any car I’ve owned and the includes a 6v Beetle.
Ive had H7 LED lamps in mine for the last 2 MOT tests and not a problem or advisory. Probably due to the fact that they are behind the projector style lens.
I rarely drive at night but they actually let you see where you’re going now.

Did you watch any specific videos on YouTube showing how to change them?
No. I just pulled it apart. No fear of such things. Never looked at them in the dark yet but rarely drive at night anyways. Sure they’ll be fine. There are 6 screws on the outside holding the thing together and 9 holding the circuit board in place Super easy

Climate control buttons sorted. Ali express parts. Dead easy job so no excuse for not doing it

Just back to the original post. As far as I’m aware the warning light comes on as the pads hit 2mm left. An MOT fail is 1.5mm so potentially you could be driving an unroadworthy car very soon after the light comes on in the eyes of the MOT system
Id only drive as far as the local garage who can do the work. If you’re doing them yourself do it now.

That's not old-fashioned, it just sounds wasteful. Old-fashioned people always seem to be quite careful with their money and I can't imagine any of them throwing brake pads in the bin when they still have quite a lot of wear in them.
Call me wasteful then. Or call it timely maintenance or even looking after my cars braking system so it’s not on its last few mm of remaining pads.
I’m not bothered about getting an extra couple of hundred miles out of a set and more than happy to spend money on things like brakes and tyres before they get to a point of being worn to where a warning light comes on.
I’ll keep doing my mid point oil and filter changes and waste money on all the lotions and potions to keep it clean and tidy also.
I think it’s called caring for your possessions. Now isn’t that old fashioned ?
You crack on waiting though. Maintaining your own car isn’t for everyone but brakes are something that that should be absolutely right at all times.
i wonder where you’d stand if you were involved in an accident. Say You killed someone. Say your brakes were in such a bad way that they wouldn’t t have passed an MOT as they are classed as worn out. Say you end up in prison. Bummed every day by a couple of “The Sisters” Just a thought.
Call Me old fashioned

Call me e old fashioned but I’d have swapped mine long before the warning lamp comes on.
get them swapped -
Peanut butter. Smooth. Spread it on. Leave for 15 or 20 mins. Wash off. Marvel at your new look trim. Be ready to discuss with your neighbour who is baffled.
Really

I did all of my brakes for less than £450 inc parts from ECP. All Pagid. so discs, pads, damping pads and wear indicators Simple to do with the only heads up being the damping pads which can rust inside the pistons. Took a bit to remove them but nothing dramatic. If your pads are good you could just do the discs. I realise some people will disagree with this but after always doing pads and discs at the same time for years I`ve realised that you`re better off bedding in new discs with old pads. That way you`re not bedding both pads and discs in which often doesn`t work.
Don`t touch the aircon if it`s working. If it does fail like mine did then sort it. I replaced both the condensors and the drier not long ago. £160 for the parts and £55 to get it gassed up with a groupon code at ATS.
I`ve done the dampers and suspension overall and that`s very worth while.
The misting of oil between the gearbox and engine is normal on all the cars i`ve seen so don`t worry. clean it off and Just keep an eye on it from time to time.
There are plenty of guides and how to videos on youtube so if you want to save some money get yourself a decent set of tools and get stuck in. if you`re not into it any decent non specialist garage will be able to sort the brakes, There`s noting special about the brakes on a 987 compared to other cars.

Don’t bother. Get a Mk3 Mx5 instead. Miles better.

MOT passed once more and my DIY air-con condensers and dryer fitting a few weeks back air now filled up with refrigerant so i have working AC for the first time since i bought the car.

So i've supplied 12v direct and the pump isn't running. Ive ordered a replacement pump.
So...... As the pump lives under the drivers side (UK car) intake manifold i'll need to remove that.......
-
I think it’s probably incorrect to assume your dampers are ok. As the whole lot is coming out you really should just go for it. Mine were gone at 85k and 14 years old so I swapped them for fresh. Totally with the expense and virtually no added time to swap when done it the same time as top mounts etc.
-
i'm chasing a fault with my secondary air pump on the 987.1 2.7 and after checking with my Durametric kit I can't make the pump run in the activations section.
I would imagine even if there was a fault on say a vacuum line or similar the pump should still run when i actvate it? Pointing to a failed pump.
Any help appreciated.

Air con condensers and drier swapped out. Pretty simple.
Stalling

Even with my own amazing levels of driving skills I occasionally manage to stall the car, Usually I blame wearing different shoes.............
The only way I seem to be able to start the car again is by removing the key completely then turning it as usual. If I just turn off etc nothing happens.
Am I missing something ?
Many thanks,
