  1. Replaced my window regulator that packed up just before Christmas.  Was going to pay to get it done but as the weather is getting worse and the window wants properly seated I tackled it today.  
    £150 for the mechanism.  Job done and the window is now in a better position as I spend a bit of time adjusting the for and aft position in the clamps.

    Looking back think I must have just got in the car when I bought it and not adjusted anything since I bought the car one wet summer and a lockdown ago. 
     

    Rather embarrassingly I discovered that if I tilted the seat forward a few degrees It would slide back about two inches, giving me loads more room and supporting my thighs properly for the first time. However, the steering wheel was now further away that I wanted, so I Googled the options for a steering wheel spacer and found them available from Daily Driver Motorsport on EBay at less than half the price charged by everyone’s favourite Belgian exhaust chopper.

    I’m very happy with the results. The hardest parts were removing the airbag and trying to use the stupid extension looms provided to reconnect the airbag. In the end I used the original airbag wiring which was plenty long enough.

    Doesn`t your car have a reach adjustment on the steering wheel?   My 2006 does........

    YouTube is your best resource for this.  There are numerous videos of people doing oil changes.   It’s no more complex than any other car I’ve owned.  All the bits are super simple to get to.

    Jack and stands.  I probably didn’t need to but I lowered the car as it was draining.  I left it for a couple of hours before continuing.  
     

    I got just short of 8L in there so must have been pretty empty.  Id partially filled the filter housing with oil too which is a nice thing about having the filter in that orientation.  
     

    I filled it to the second line from the top then left it.   Parked it on a flat part of the drive then then next day checked it again and the level hadn’t changed so put a very small amount more in to get to the very top bar on the gauge.  It’s good doing these things yourself so you know it’s been done.

    Re the magic sponge I’m sure it will remove grime but that’s because they are abrasive.  Most abrasive than people think.

    I use the bar of soap with a small medium  hard brush.   Dip the brush in some warm water, later it up on the soap and then go to work on the wheel.   A hard tooth brush works well also.  give it a good going over and then wipe off the residue with a microfibre cloth.   should come up like new.    I got the PEARS soap tip from a guys dad who`s house I was working in when we got chatting about cars.  He was in the leather game for years and he said to forget all the expensive lotions and potions.   

    I`ve done a few wheels and some seats over the years and the results are excellent.   Bar of PEARS soap is like 69p or something,  

     

     

  7. Fitted the sports steering wheel I’ve had sat in the kitchen for a while.  Was super simple. Blue thread lock used just as it was when I removed the original and after a quick spin the “PSM failiure” light I was expecting went off.   Looks and feels a lot better. 
    mid cleaned it up with PEARS soap after I aquired it so it’s a nice matt black finish as it should be.

  8. I’ve done 6 cars with renovo now.    Best thing to do is to partially lower the roof and use poly sheeting to cover the car body.   Close the roof and doors to jam it in.   Masking rope and rubber bands etc to stop it flapping about.    
     

    saves a lot of cleaning up.  
     

    the black always needs at least 2 applications but I’ve used 4 on my 987 

    The blue is much better and only requires one or 2.

  9. You’ll most likely find these led lamps look brighter as you’re looking at the car but when you’re out and it’s dark the actual light thrown out is totally all over the place and doesn’t light up the road any better than the old candle power ones.  
    As noted elsewhere it’s best to not drive a 987 with normal filament headlamps during the hours of darkness!  

  10. Pears soap is the best thing for cleaning real leather.    Get a bar of the stuff.   Lather  it up a bit with something like a shoe brush and go to work.   Wipe it off with a micro fibre cloth.    Toothbrush works great in crevices and the steering wheel. 

    theres nothing better.  I’ve cleaned maybe 14 or 15 cars with it over my years and can’t recommend it higher.  
     

    oh and it’s about £1 a bar. 

  11. Stripped down the front brakes and fitted new discs, pads and pad dampers.   A very easy job.
     

    whilst the wheels were of I’ve also throughly cleaned the wheel arches and everything I could see and then applied  ACF50.   Not the brakes obviously!   Looks great now.   I did the back end with ACF50 as I was on a roll.
