  1. Cayman is definitely better than a boxster as your mum would never put the roof down and when she lets you borrow it for being a good boy it will be smelling lovely inside due to her cheap perfume.  That’s how it smells when she takes me out anyways.

  2. There’s one of my posts quite recently about it.
basically stripped  the door card off, loosened the inner metal panel enough to scrape the bottom section of foam gasket away and then applied a thick bead of flexible sealant before tightening it up and then running another bead also along the joint for total peace of mind.  Worked a treat as the next day I had torrential rain.
if you do it though make sure you buy the official door card clips from Porsche.  There are 9 in each door.  They don’t like being used again and some will break.  Don’t get Ebay ones.  Ask me how I know.   The official ones are less than 20 quid for the lot

while you’re there fit better speakers too if you don’t have the Bose system.  Bose system is more complex than just swapping speakers. The standard fit and SPP ones are junk. I also used some Dynamat type stuff on the back of the door cards and the door skin whilst I had access.

  3. I gave up with the trombone cleaner as the hole was too tight for the one I have.

it’s definitely the thing at the top of the list along with making sure your door bottom carpets are dry also.   My wet floor was caused by the door membrane foam disintegration.  The water dripped off the carpeted section  and over the sill.  That’s a lot my involved than the relatives simple drain clean

  4. I’d hope it already has one but even if it doesn’t you should get one.  I have one sat here in the garage ready to fit but it’s too cold and miserable and I don’t like removing anything plastic with things that are likely to break, especially when they are cold.  So I’ll wait until it warms up a bit

  5. There are certainly holes on the door seal which is part of the car body.....   I mean the water which enters the door itself via the window seal where the actual window drops into.
mince the water is in there where does it normally go ?   I’d have thought there would be some drainage in the door bottom.
incant say I’ve ever thought about this on any of my other cars over the years.

  6. Thought this picture would be interesting to all those with soggy door card bottoms.  It’s quite clear how this leads to a wet under carpet https://photos.app.goo.gl/Mp68QGZtxFPYUvWA9

I took the door card as off mine an sealed the metal inner panel by loosening the bolts and easing the panel forward before using a flexible sealant a long the bottom edge. Tightened up and refitted and all is good again. Even in today’s constant rain.
