  1. @CMA, I had the dreaded timing cover oil leak on my 2017 Macan S & all the work was done on the bolts on the front of the engine. It was also done without removing the engine by Leeds OPC.  The engine that has the the bolts @ the back of the engine is the Diesel engine, which because it is much more thermally efficient than the petrol engine does not suffer the same rate of failure. I know this because I recently saw a diesel Macan engine having this engine stripped down to undertake this job,@ an open night @ my local OPC, the technician involved on the job told me this. The engine was removed from the car.
My Macan has 21” turbo wheels painted satin black & has air suspension, & PASM & I think that the ride is excellent, however on my 18” winter wheels the ride is even better.

As the MOT was booked it was a bit of a rush to get everything done...  This included taking the door skins off and re-fitting the airbags, and whilst they were off re-sited the driver's side door top panel and glued.  Also tested all of the lights, fitted the latch cover etc etc

Windscreen was installed yesterday and thankfully it fitted like a dream!

It looked quite fiddly and seeing as you only get 7 minutes to work with the adhesive, I'm pleased I left this to the pros!

    Wipers on and working

I've since adjusted them so they sit a bit lower.

Normal plates back on for the MOT - I actually don't mind it as much as I thought I would!

It's back to the painters tomorrow (Saturday) to mess around with the gaps a bit more and to shave a bit off the spoiler (then repaint)

Very satisfying to cross these off :) This was the list of jobs that I made when I got it back beginning of April

Then off it went this morning for the MOT...

    which it passed 😎

I got a call to go and collect it sharpish as it started pouring with rain and they didn't want to put it outside (didn't realise it had a roof!) It looks a bit weird with the top on :D but kept me dry on the way home.

So tomorrow is a few (a lot) of finishing touches, a good clean, then should be able to take it on Sunday to the AGM 👍

Come and say hello if anyone else is going :)

Which Porsche club AGM are you attending, Cornbury House or Bolton Abbey? If Bolton Abbey I look forward to meeting you and you great looking car.

  3. @Terryg interestingly I have looked back into the large file of receipts that came with the car, & the previous set of N3 rear tyres that I replaced did 12162 miles, the N5 tyres that are worn out have done 6883 miles, so there is obviously a big difference in compound or something 🤔

It will be interesting to see what Pirelli have to say!

  4. I have ordered new pair of the same tyres from the original supplier, who will be returning the worn ones to Pirelli as a complaint, we will see what happens. This was the only way to go to try to get some resolution from Pirelli. I will post up here the end result.

  5. @Terryg the car is used for weekend fun use, but not really trashed, I like my acceleration but not spinning wheels from a standing start, I like it rolling before I give it some beans. Most of the mileage I have SWMBO in the car as well!

  6. I have Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres fitted on the rear of my Boxster they are 255/40/17 N5, I was shocked @ the weekend to discover that they are down to 2mm, in 6883 miles. Date of manufacture 1519. They are fairly evenly worn across the tread as well. They were fitted in August 2019 @ the same time as having a 4 wheel geo/alignment done. In stark contrast the front Pirelli N3’s were fitted in March 2018 & have done 10600 miles & have 6mm to 5.5mm fairly evenly across the tread. Which gives an indication of how the car is driven, there have been no track days, & I have never been on a Strines run!
I am going to go back to the tyre retailer who are a Pirelli performance centre & express my concerns, I find it very difficult to understand how they could wear so much in a relatively low mileage. Now I know that Pirelli are not the forum’s favourites, but what are other members thoughts on this?

  7. I personally would not buy a car that has been self serviced, with a load of receipts for parts, as you really don’t have any proof other than the sellers word that the work has been done. I mean all S/H car sellers tell the truth🤔 yeah right.

If however there is a fully stamped service book by OPC, & indies backed up by receipts, invoices etc then you have more proof that the work has been carried out, which could be verified by phone calls, emails etc if necessary. I would expect all Porsche cars to be serviced by OPC whilst still under warranty.

  8. @Daboy3000 here is what I suggest you do, open up PCGB website, then go to the Porsche Club Community, then click on model registers, then click on modern in the drop down list, then navigate to Boxster. This will then give you the option to email the lady who runs the Boxster register. If you ask nicely, She should be able to tell you whether they have an earlier car than your’s on the register, as to have your car on the register you have to give your vin number to the club.

I know you have contacted PCGB but I suspect that will have been the office, I have not mentioned names here as I don’t want the lady involved being contacted by loads of people.

  9. For the last 5 years I have used mobil1 competition 10-60 in my Boxster S, as recommended by my now retired indie, who used to race Porsche 911 & build race engines. Runs much better on this than what was in before, doesn’t use any oil, no smoke, does several track days a year, works for me. The engine seems to run quieter & smoother on this oil., does about 3-4K a year between changes.
