40K miles or 6 years on a Macan.

Why all the excitement about a thing with a tin roof? Effectively a Porsche van!

Did mine through Hull Porsche, no choice of badge, I was given the green one! No key ring offered, & never given the number plate surrounds.

I believe some places offer an upgrade to glass. Cut out the need for the boxster chop. 🤙
You can’t fit a glass window to a hood that has a plastic window as the window/aperture hole is the wrong size/shape. The glass windows are smaller than the hole left by removing the plastic. If you want a glass window then it is a replacement hood, whether that be new or s/h one.

Thanks to @1/2CWT & @K.I.T.T. For your replies, here is an update. We tried to refit ball nozzle into the existing part but it blew out again, so my indie where the car was being serviced & MOT tested fitted a new one from Porsche. He fitted it without taking the front bumper cover off, all done by taking the headlamp out. The cost of the new part from Indie was £120-06 plus vat.

@K.I.T.T., thanks for your reply, is the BMW part that you mention just the spray head ball? If so then I still have the Porsche one that popped out.
@1/2CWT thanks for your reply, I will ring my indie this morning & see what his take on it is.

One of my n/s headlight washer nozzles has just popped out of it’s socket when I was testing them pre MOT test. The spray head pops up etc but one of the nozzles has popped out. It was sat on the drive, it is like a ball with a white nylon hole @ the bottom, does this push back into the socket or is it a new assembly @ lots of dosh?
Any advice would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

@1/2cwt thank you for that information, I need to have a good look @ the callipers & check out the position, from memory it is the outside nipples that are seized/stuck the inside ones were free.

TBH, I'd just take it off and go with the press to avoid risking damage to the casting.
I'd happily loan you my induction heater if we were closer unless you fancy meeting somewhere halfway between you and Kettering.
1/2cwt are these induction heaters any good? I was thinking of buying 1 off eBay to do my brake callipers nipples that 50% of are seized. What make do you have? Any tips would be useful, thanks in advance.

Collected the Boxster out of storage after total hip replacement surgery and was very pleasantly surprised with the lack of left leg pain whilst driving, forgotten how much I love this car😍

@deanmr2there must be a typo in your post as 987, exhaust will not fit a 986.

16k hammer price plus 7.5% commission plus vat is approx £1450 plus delivery so buyer will pay £17450 plus delivery. Thought it would fetch good money, not wrong.

@Daboy3000 I know that Rally Boxster driven by Ian Jemmison of York, it is not 4 wheel drive , it is deffo 2 wheel drive but has a 911 engine in it. Ian Jemmison runs an excellent alloy wheel repair/refurbishment company in Bishopthorpe on outside of York.

Have you got the Hill hold hand brake on ? I find mine is difficult to get out of gear into N or R if facing up or down a hill without it on.

My 2017 Macan S definitely creeps when you release the brakes.

@Menoporscheif the Cayenne was bought new 2 years ago, it should be the 2.9 Audi engine, certainly the loan Cayenne Coupe that I had for a while was that engine.

@dpg123if you Google “ timing chain oil leak on Porsche Macan Turbo” afraid to say that comes up with videos on You Tube, so yes I guess it could occur on your engine. As you say thankfully with warranty!
-
@Tony Daniel as I understand it the problem Is on the Porsche 3 Ltr V6 engine, so far it has not occurred on the 2.9 Audi engine. Mine is a Nov 2017 car, I believe that during a certain build period, the aluminium hex headed bolts that secure the timing chain cover & cam covers were over tightened when on production line. During the heat cycles of the engine the heads snap off the bolts allowing oil to leak out of the covers. The OPC now use a different torque setting from what was previously recommended. If you look @ Macan Forums uk there is a fair bit of info on there about inc links to info about this in the USA.

Car was in Leeds OPC for 4 year service and they send me a video showing an oil leak @ both sides of the front of the engine. So they clean car down & I ran it for 450 miles, then the car inspected again @ Leeds OPC who confirm that it is the dreaded timing chain cover that is leaking oil, but could also be the cam cover bolts as well. So the car returns to Leeds 1st May for engine out fix. I spoke to the technician and looked @ the leak with the car on the ramp. I asked how many of these does he do & he answered most of them! I then asked how many are done twice, & he said that he had never done a car twice. So just hope that this a permanent fix. I must confess that I am concerned having a car that has had engine out @ 17k miles. Only time will tell. Just thank my lucky stars it is still in warranty.

Light Switch

@Graham Davenport just seen your post, to clean the switch you do not need to remove it from the car, you remove the turn handle from the switch, by pulling the switch part out as per fog lights on, then using a small flat bladed screwdriver release a small catch underneath the switch in the handle part, and remove that part, which then leaves you with a tube going through the switch, spray your switch cleaner down there with the thin tube, give it a couple of squirts then put knob pack on and turn switch on & off a number of times, this cleans the switch. It did for me. I followed a you tube video, but can’t find it now!
